CBB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Fantasy Basketball

Stud CBB Picks Today

E.J. Liddell ($9,300) — While a slater shorter on studs, tonight’s DFS contests still feature Keegan Murray, Kofi Cockburn and a few other studs. Both find themselves in the upper echelon of pricing with tough decisions to be made. Also in that pricing tier, E.J. Liddell has absolutely dominated usage for Ohio State down the stretch. Liddell has played 39, 35 and 35 minutes in Ohio State’s last three games. Already posting a 20.9% usage rate on the year, Liddell has contributed a 25.2% shot rate, 28.9% rebound rate and 8.7% assist rate for Ohio State over their last three games. The Buckeyes are also dealing with injuries to Zed Key and Kyle Young, thinning the frontcourt. With little option but to play Liddell the whole game, he brings more security than Cockburn or Murray.

Hunter Dickinson ($9,000) — A close projected game, Michigan is a two-point favorite over Iowa in a game with a 154.5-point total. Condensing their rotation, Michigan has played through Hunter Dickinson down the stretch. Dickinson played 32, 34 and 39 minutes in each of Michigan’s last three games. He has also contributed a 26.5% shot rate, 34.4% rebound rate and 11.1% assist rate in that span. Sweetening the deal, Iowa ranks 175th in interior defense, creating a positive scoring environment for Michigan. With the Wolverines playing such tight minutes, any of the starting five can be considered here. Eli Brooks is particularly cheap for his 38, 37 and 40 minutes played in their last three games.

Dickinson’s size and the poor interior defense of Iowa combine to make him one of the best CBB DFS picks today. When running the projections through our CBB optimizer, Dickinson was jumping off the page. Bennedict Mathurin ($8,400) — Carrying Arizona to a PAC12 regular season title, Bennedict Mathurin has continued to play consistent minutes down the stretch. Mathurin has played 33, 34 and 27 minutes over Arizona’s last three games. Within these minutes, Mathurin has a 21.1% shot rate, 13.5% rebound rate and 21.4% assist rate. The Wildcats are 18.5-point favorites over Stanford here in a game with a 147-point total. With motivation already questionable for Arizona, the only concern with Mathurin is the potential for limited minutes in a blowout.

Mid-Range CBB Picks Today

Marcus Weathers ($6,700) — SMU enters this slate with a 74-point implied team total as a seven-point favorite over Cincinnati in a game with a 141-point total. Positively, SMU has also narrowed its rotation of late. One beneficiary has been Marcus Weathers. With foul trouble causing some problems in his most recent game, Weathers has now played 29, 36 and 35 minutes over SMU’s last three games. He has a 19.4% shot rate, 26.7% rebound rate and 20.5% assist rate in that span. While Kendric Davis is also extremely involved, Weathers’ rebounding edge gives him a slightly better price-adjusted projection for the Mustangs here.

Taze Moore ($6,700) — Similar to the Arizona situation above, Houston enters tonight’s game against Temple with questionable motivation. Houston has all but locked up the AAC, but they remain 16.5-point favorites over Temple in a game with a 131.5-point total. If Houston actually plays to their 73.75-point implied total, one of their starters likely hits value. Already forced to play a narrowed rotation due to injury, Taze Moore stands out as a potentially cheaper option tonight. Moore has played, 34, 35 and 29 minutes over Houston’s last three games. He has also contributed a 20.8% shot rate, 12.9% rebound rate and 15.7% assist rate in that span. Moore projects well given his normal role, however, with Houston’s postseason aspirations, they may elect to reduce minutes here. For the record, this is speculation.

Finding the best college basketball betting picks has never been easier. The Awesemo OddsShopper tool now features tools to find the best NCAAB picks and player props. Tonight, Moore is projecting as one of the highest-ROI bets on his points prop.

Darius Johnson ($5,800) — UCF takes on Tulane as a two-point favorite in a game with a 140.5-point total. UCF recently lost Brandon Mahan for the foreseeable future, creating some value in the lineup. One particular beneficiary has been Darius Johnson. Johnson has now played 34, 36 and 39 minutes in UCF’s last three games. His usage has also risen sharply, contributing a 16.1% shot rate, 21% rebound rate and 34% assist rate within that span. Tulane is short-handed themselves, giving UCF a solid opportunity to take advantage of the Green Wave’s 180th ranked defense.

CBB Value Picks Today

Max Christie ($4,900) — Injury news could provide potential value pieces tonight, but Michigan State’s Max Christie remains locked into a role. Even as 5.5-point underdogs, Michigan State’s 67-point implied team total can be targeted here. Christie has not been as involved as some anticipated during his freshman season, but he has still played 31, 35 and 34 minutes in the Spartans’ last three games. Mainly a shooter, Christie has a 17.7% shot rate, 8.2% rebound rate and 6.1% assist rate in that span. If value opens, Christie becomes less attractive, but for now, he is a decent value play.

Eugene Brown ($3,600) — As mentioned above, Ohio State could be short in the frontcourt tonight. Even with the potential injuries, Ohio State remains a 5.5-point favorite over Michigan State in a game with a 139.5-point total. One beneficiary of the injuries has been Eugene Brown. Brown played 26, 17 and 22 minutes in Ohio State’s last three games. He has a 7.8% shot rate, 11.1% rebound rate and 21.7% assist rate in that span. While Jimmy Sotos is also another potential value play in this range, Brown brings a slightly more consistent role here.

DeVon Baker ($3,500) — On the Tulane side, an injury to Jalen Cook creates a chasm of value for the Green Wave. Cook typically plays every minute and leads the team with a 21.4% usage rate. This creates a solid value play in DeVon Baker. Baker immediately stepped up to play 28 minutes in Tulane’s most recent game, where Cook left after playing 20 minutes. Baker has a solid 15% usage rate this year, which may now be maximized by elevated minutes. Basically, the entire starting five enters the value conversation to Tulane now with Kevin Cross and Sion James also projecting particularly well for their prices.
