CBB DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Core Plays | Feb. 12

Studs Tier

Ayo Dosunmu ($9,300) – Coming off a triple-double in a 15-point win over Wisconsin, Dosunmu saw his price climb back to $9,300. Dosunmu has a 24.4% shot rate, 17.4% rebound rate, and 43.9% assist rate in Illinois’ last three games. While Illinois enters this slate as a 15-point favorite over Nebraska in a game totaled at 148 points, the blowout risk makes the Illinois studs more volatile. In an up-tempo spot, Dosunmu and Kofi Cockburn ($8,700) are typically no-brainer plays. However, with Nebraska unable to keep games competitive, both could see reduced minutes.

Nah’Shon Hyland ($9,000) – Playing with the fourth-highest implied team total on the slate, VCU has a 3-point advantage over St. Bonaventure in a game totaled at 134.5 points. While both teams offer multiple studs, Hyland stands out with a particularly strong 20.5% usage rate. Hyland has played at least 35 minutes in each of VCU’s last three games, providing a 23.2% shot rate, 15.1% rebound rate and 23.7% assist rate in that span. Hyland has also scored at least 19 points in each of those games, providing a solid floor and an elite ceiling for DraftKings DFS purposes.

Keaton Wallace ($7,700) – UTSA has the second-highest implied team total on the slate (75.25). This game projects for an above-average pace, with brutal defenses on both sides. For UTSA, Jhivvan Jackson ($7,900) and Wallace both make sense as studs to target. Recently Wallace has had superior rates, with a 25.8% shot rate, 16.1% rebound rate and 17.2% assist rate. On the season, Jackson’s 22% usage rate narrowly edges Wallace’s 20.5%. While both are elite plays, Wallace offers $200 in savings if necessary.

Mid-Priced Tier

Jordan Walker ($6,600) – Used like an elite player but priced in the mid-tier, Walker stands out as a potential stud on Tulane. The Green Wave have the second-lowest implied team total on the slate, but it is just 5.5-point below VCU with the fourth-highest team total. Despite being $500 cheaper than teammate Jaylen Forbes ($7,100), Walker actually has a superior 18.5% usage rate. Walker has played at least 37 minutes in each of Tulane’s last three games, accounting for a 23.6% shot rate and 42.9% assist rate. UCF still ranks 217th in defensive efficiency, creating avenues for Tulane to find success.

Teddy Allen ($6,000) – Perhaps the most volatile player on the entire slate, Allen possesses an elite 22% usage rate. However, he comes with significant minute concerns. Allen historically deals with foul and turnover issues, causing him to sit for large stretches of time. But when he is on the floor, Allen’s 21.7% shot rate provides elite upside. In this game Illinois also plays at an above-average tempo. While still carrying immense risk, Allen provides a strong risk-reward proposition for GPPs on DraftKings tonight.

Isaiah Crawford ($5,800) – Louisiana Tech is an underrated team for DFS. Aside from Kenneth Lofton Jr. ($7,400), most of Louisiana Tech’s roster is affordably priced. Crawford looks like a strong value after playing just 19 minutes in a game where he struggled with foul trouble. In his two games prior, Crawford notched 30 minutes in each. Crawford leads the team with a 16.9% usage rate for Louisiana Tech. In their last three games, he also leads the team with a 19% shot rate, providing upside in this matchup.

Value Tier

Tavin Lovan ($4,900) – On the other side of the Louisiana Tech game, the line continues to move in UAB’s favor. UAB’s recent rotation features a few extra players, but they have won each of their last three games by double-digit points. In a projected competitive affair here, the UAB starters should receiver more run. While Michael Ertel ($5,500) stands out as a mid-priced play, Lovan could provide a little extra value. Lovan has an 18.4% usage rate for this UAB team, with a 14.2% shot rate and 22.6% assist rate on the season. While Ertel is the safer play, Lovan should have lower ownership at a reduced price.

Cedrick Alley Jr. ($4,800) – Playing in a similar situation to Lovan, Alley saw his minutes reduced in UTSA’s most recent 43-point blowout win. Prior to his 20-minute outing, Alley received 28 and 24 minutes in back-to-back games. Mainly a rebounder, Alley has an 8.6% shot rate and 17.2% rebound rate in UTSA’s last three games. However, with FAU strong on the glass, Alley should receive more run today in the best DFS game environment on the slate. For those looking at even cheaper options, Erik Czumbel ($3,700) should also play around 25 minutes tonight.

Adam Miller ($3,500) – With Illinois projected to beat Nebraska by 15 points, the Illini bench should receive extended run. While Andre Curbelo ($4,400), Da’Monte Williams ($4,100) and Jacob Grandison ($4,400) all fit this mold, Miller provides the most savings. Miller already starts for Illinois with a fair 12.2% usage rate. Unlike most of his counterparts, Miller is known for his shooting. Outside of Dosunmu and Cockburn, Miller has the highest shot rate on the season. Expecting to receive at least 20 minutes, Miller provides enough salary relief to target multiple studs on this slate.
