College basketball season is in full swing, and DraftKings and FanDuel continue to provide sizable contests for CBB DFS grinders. Examining the slate for March 7, a number of core plays stand out. In this piece I’ll be locating top plays from each college basketball matchup and determining the top CBB DFS picks for your DraftKings and FanDuel lineups.

CBB DFS Picks: DraftKings + FanDuel Core Plays | March 7

Stud Tier

Luka Garza ($10,000) — With an abundance of value on today’s slate, reaching Garza looks feasible. Garza has the slate’s top projection with Iowa’s 75.25-point implied team total. Iowa is a 6.5-point favorite over Wisconsin in a game totaled at 144 points. Garza has a 25.8% usage rate, and he accounts for 25.2% of the shots and 20.7% of the rebounds for Iowa. Wisconsin plays solid defense, but Garza continues to eat even the most difficult matchups. As far as studs go, Garza is as safe as they come.

Franz Wagner ($8,100) — Michigan has a 71.75-point implied team total today. Michigan State ranks 204th in defensive efficiency, creating a solid game environment for the Michigan studs. While Isaiah Livers ($7,700) and Hunter Dickinson ($7,000) are options as well, Wagner looks like a solid contrarian option for GPPs. He has played at least 31 minutes in three straight and leads the team with a 16.1% usage rate. He accounts for 15.9% of the shots, 16.7% of the rebounds and 18.2% of the assists for Michigan this season.

Davion Mitchell ($7,800) — While Jared Butler ($9,200) also looks like a strong stud to target, Mitchell provides salary relief at $7,800. Baylor is an 8-point favorite over Texas Tech in a game totaled at 137.5 points. Mitchell ranks second on the team with a 17.8% usage rate. He has played at least 38 minutes in three straight games for Baylor and accounts for 20% of the shots and 32.6% of the assists in their last three games. Offering sleeper appeal, Mitchell is a contrarian stud option on the Sunday DFS slate.

Mid-Priced Tier

Keon Johnson ($5,500) — Playing in an underwhelming game environment, Tennessee is a 4.5-point favorite over Florida in a game totaled at 136.5 points. Johnson continues to start for Tennessee and has played at least 38 minutes in three straight games. Johnson possesses a strong 17% usage rate, 21.8% shot rate and 24.3% assist rate in Tennessee’s last three games. The Volunteers have shifted their rotation at times this season, making Johnson risky. However, he still is underpriced against the Gators here.

Kyle Rode ($5,100) — An interesting addition to the slate, Liberty is a 13.5-point favorite over North Alabama in a game totaled at 134 points. While the Liberty players run the risk of blowout, their tight rotation makes them solid for DFS. Rode has played at least 33 minutes in three straight games and has a favorable 13.7% usage rate. Rode has taken 12.2% of the shots, 19.2% of the rebounds and 21.4% of the assists in Liberty’s last three games. North Alabama ranks 166th in defensive efficiency, providing a solid matchup for Rode and the rest of Liberty’s lineup.

Chase Audige ($5,100) — Closing out a lost season, Northwestern is a 7-point favorite over Nebraska in a game totaled at 140 points. Nebraska ranks 185th in defensive efficiency and plays with solid pace, making this a favorable environment for Northwestern. Audige only hit 26 minutes in Northwestern’s last game, but he played 32 in the two prior. He has a 17.9% usage rate and accounts for 20.4% of the shots this season. Audige is a solid buy-low, but Miller Kopp ($4,300) could also be used as a value play.

Value Tier

Elijah Cuffee ($4,900) — For those looking at cheaper access points to Liberty, Cuffee has played at least 30 minutes in three straight games for Liberty. Cuffee only has a 12.7% usage rate, 10.4% shot rate, 14.1% rebound rate and 16.1% assist rate in Liberty’s last three games. He doesn’t have an elite ceiling, but his consistent value on the third-highest implied team provide safety today.

Eli Brooks ($4,700) — For those looking at cheaper attachments to Michigan, Brooks and Mike Smith ($4,600) bring affordable prices on today’s slate. Neither has a particularly strong usage rate, but Brooks takes 12.4% of the shots and 18.8% of the assist on the season. While Brooks doesn’t possess an elite ceiling, his consistent rates provide a usable floor for DFS today.

Anthony Duruji ($4,600) — On the other side of the Tennessee game, a few of the Gators enter the slate with favorable prices. In particular, Duruji has an attractive $4,600 price tag. Duruji has played 33 and 34 minutes in back-to-back games for Florida and now accounts for 13.6% of the shots and 22.7% of the rebounds in Florida’s last three games. Tennessee presents a tough interior matchup for Duruji, but his price is too solid to pass up.
