Euro 2020 DFS Picks: Fantasy Soccer | June 23

These are listed in order of what I believe are the top plays, including median projection, floor and upside.

Euro DFS Picks: Forwards/Midfielders

Alvaro Morata (DraftKings: $8,400, FanDuel: $21)

Lucky for us, we’ll have another set of groups with no places clinched. Spain will look to secure advancement as they take on Slovakia, which holds the second seed in group E of the Euro. A draw is good enough for Slovakia, which bolds well for Spain in DFS. Slovakia allowed a 1.73 and 1.48 expected goals in their first two matches of group stage. Spain posted an expected goals of 2.95 and 2.35 in their meetings against Poland and Sweden. Spain drew both matches and must come away with a win against Slovakia.

Alvaro Morata ran into a string of bad luck with seven shots and only one goal to his name. The volume is there and the matchup screams of a breakthrough performance for the Spanish striker. Morata is surpassing his Juventus club-level metrics of 2.41 shots per match and Slovakia provides the most favorable matchup. The concern is a floor is non existent, but given the match up, expected goal run and brace upside he makes a core play list.

Koke (DraftKings: $6,000, FanDuel: $10)
Maren Hamsik (DraftKings: $5,000, FanDuel: $14)

Koke offers a floor with set shares for Spain and, at $6,000 on the ask, his floor makes him a viable part of a stack. Given the lack of on target volume and created chances, I have little interest in Koke on FanDuel. The striker to the right of Morata is Gerard Moreno, who missed a costly PK for Spain in their previous match but did contribute on the scoresheet; he lacks a floor like Morata. The $8,700 price tag makes him a viable option in GPPs. The expected goals also makes him viable on FanDuel if he can return to his on target accuracy form of 40% and 2.90 shots from Villareal.

Slovakia draws little interest overall, when you consider time of possession will not be on their side and they do little to capitalize on the chances they receive. In GPPs, Maren Hamsik holds some value on DraftKings where his ask is easy to hit on set piece volume and shots that rarely find target.

Kai Havertz (DraftKings: $7,000, FanDuel: $20)
Toni Kroos (DraftKings: $7,900, FanDuel: $13)

Germany has awoken and raised their play, while the asking price on a few key contributors has yet to rise. Kai Havertz has taken it upon himself to fire shots away, much like the Havertz of Chelsea. His match up against Hungary should keep his average shot volume of 2.07 in tact. In addition, Havertz’s 40%+ career on target accuracy makes him a cheaper goal hunting option.

Toni Kroos is rather unentertaining to watch but his DFS output put him in consideration. His set shares build the floor that has added value with drawn fouls and chances created. Germany looks to come away from this match with a victory, and the presence of Serge Gnarby and Leroy Sane along Kroos and Havertz makes a full goal contribution stack. With consolidated scoring a possibility I would pick and choose two of the four in a set of lineups for GPP and add pairing with the German defenders below.

Antoine Griezmann (DraftKings: $9,400, FanDuel: $20)

France are in unexpected territory after a shock draw to Hungary. They take on a Portugal side that has scored in bunches through their first two matches. Antoine Griezmann has done his part to keep France alive in the hardest Group of the Euro. His ask is still too cheap for the floor on set piece monopoly and PK’s. The upside is a goal and France will need them to keep up with Portugal’s attack. For GPP consideration, Kylian Mbappe is discounted a bit and his scoring woes are not for a lack of trying. Half the six shot volume he posted in his previous match should be enough to pay the ask if he can find the back of the net.

Cristiano Ronaldo (DraftKings: $9,900, FanDuel: $23)

On the Portugal side, Cristiano Ronaldo is the headliner with three goals. His shot volume and on target accuracy makes him a more appealing option on FanDuel. His winger Diogo Jota has contributed and continues his new found form since arriving at his club Liverpool.

In GPP’s you need some exposure to this match given the importance of a win for both sides. In single entry tournaments or limited entries I could make a case to fade this match. First, the previous two meetings between these two sides combined for a total of one goal. This being the same meetings that saw the featured stars in this match up. Second, the volume shooters and goal hunters are priced as such that a solo goal is not enough on a four gamer that features prime match ups for Spain and Germany.

Other Options: Robert Lewandowski (DraftKings: $9,200, FanDuel: $18), Emil Forsberg (DraftKings: $8,200, FanDuel: $18), Kamil Jozwiak (DraftKings: $5,100, FanDuel: $13), Bruno Fernandes (DraftKings: $7,400, FanDuel: $16), Roland Sallai (DraftKings: $6,000, FanDuel: $15).

Euro DFS Picks: Defender

Jordi Alba (DraftKings: $6,000, FanDuel: $14)

Spain will have plenty of chances. Taking advantage of those chances is still up in the air. Jordi Alba is highly involved in the offense with volume crosses and chances created. His ask is tough to fit in with appealing options on the wings for Germany and one for Portugal. The price should keep the ownership spread out making Alba a nice differential pivot. I am not opposed to taking two high priced defenders given their offensive output like Alba with one of the options below. Punting with a floor midfielder from Hungary or the Sweden-Poland match can free up the salary.

Other Options: Robin Gosens (DraftKings $5,900, FanDuel $15), Joshua Kimmich (DraftKings $7,000, FanDuel $13), Rapahael Guerreiro (DraftKings $5,200, FanDuel $12).

Top Goalkeepers

Rui Patricio (DraftKings: $4,300, FanDuel: $8)
Robin Olsen (DraftKings: $4,700, FanDuel: $9)
