DraftKings and FanDuel NHL Showdown/Single Game Plays of the Day, Saturday 5/19

NHL picks odds expert betting Stanely CUp Finals Canadiens Lighting Montreal Tampa Bay series preview betting lines today Brayden Point

It has been two completely different series in the first 4 games between the Capitals and Lightning. The Caps took the first 2 in Tampa while the Lightning took the next 2 in DC. We’ll head back to Tampa Bay for Game-5 where we should see similar matchups that we did in Games 1 and 2. Here are some stacks/players that we like for the single-game/showdown slate.

The scoring system on FanDuel will essentially be the same outside of no goalie, but you will want (what you think will be) your top scorer to be in your “Captain” spot where you’ll get all of his scoring times 1.5. On DraftKings, Goals (8) and Shots on Goal (2) are weighted more than they are in the traditional scoring, but the face-off bonus (0.2) is a little bit of a game-changer, making centers and guys who take face-offs a little bit more valuable. Winning goalies will (in general) also score very well, which is similar to traditional scoring.

Gourde-Point-Johnson ($23,700 DK/$26,100 FD)

This line should have be tasked with trying to limit WSH1 on the road tonight as Tampa tries to free up their top line from the Washington top-6. The Point/Johnson combo has posted 29.5 Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes and 12.9 High-Danger Chances For per 60 minutes since the start of the playoffs, and the Ovechkin line is one of the highest-paced lines in the NHL. They should be relatively low-owned as a trio, especially Gourde, but they provide some nice value if you’re paying up with expensive one-offs with the rest of your roster on DK.

Steven Stamkos ($10,700 DK/$11,200 FD)

Stamkos has woken up over the last 2 games and he’ll look to bring his solid play back home tonight. He’s posted 11 shot attempts and is leading the team with 8 Scoring Chances and 4 High-Danger Chances in the 2 road games. Tonight, he should avoid both WSH1 and WSH2 at even-strength as the Lightning will put him in the most favorable matchups possible with a plethora of offensive zone face-offs. He’ll be a tough fade even at his increased price on both sites.

Alex Ovechkin ($12,100 DK/$11,700 FD)

This isn’t a secret by any means, but Ovechkin is just attempting so many more shots than anyone else that he’s going to be mentioned in this article pretty much every time. He’s scored a series-low 12.1 DK points in Game-4, with totals near 20 in each of the other 3 games, which goes to show you how much of a floor he has in this format. He’ll still be very heavily-owned tonight, but likely less than the 60+% that we’ve seen for him in home games.

Eller ($8,000 DK/$7,800 FD)

Eller is no longer centering the 2nd line with Backstrom out, so he will have much lower ownership than we’ve seen in the first few games of this series. However, he will still be on the 2nd power-play unit and with some of his linemates and will get a bunch of face-offs. He’s priced right next to Nicklas Backstrom and is obviously not as a big of a name, so he’s a solid ownership pivot and will differentiate your lineup.
