The Lightning stole Game-3 on the road in DC Tuesday, but they’ll need to take tonight’s game to feel good about themselves going back to Tampa Bay. Here are some stacks and players I am interested in for tonight’s showdown/single game slate.
ScoringĀ
The scoring system on FanDuel will essentially be the same outside of no goalie, but you will want (what you think will be) your top scorer to be in your āCaptainā spot where youāll get all of his scoring times 1.5. On DraftKings, Goals (8) and Shots on Goal (2) are weighted more than they are in the traditional scoring, but the faceoff bonus (0.2) is a little bit of a game-changer, making centers and guys who take face-offs a little bit more valuable. Winning goalies will (in general) also score very well, which is similar to traditional scoring.
Stack
WSH1: Ovechkin-Kuznetsov-Wilson ($30,200 DK/$33,100 FD)
Despite sub-par results in Game-3 for this line at home, they posted some enouraging numbers at even-strength. Kuznetsov and Ovechkin combined for 15 shot attempts, 6 Scoring Chances, and 3 High-Danger Chances at 5v5 2 nights ago, and I’m expecting similar dominance tonight as they’ll get to dictate matchups again. Not only were thy great at even-strength, but they combined for an additional 12 shot attempts and 3 Scoring Chances on the power-play. Wilson makes for a nice add-on as many will leave him off their WSH1 stack.
Skaters
John Carlson ($9,400 DK/$9,300 FD)
Coming off a game where he played 26 minutes, Carlson makes for a great spend-up option and/or addition to your WSH1 stack. He’s always going to shoot at even-strength and is on the top power-play as well. He deserves his $9,400 price tag on DK in my eyes as he’ll likely play the most minutes of anyone in this game.
Lars Eller ($7,800 DK/$7,800 FD)
Eller was skating with his usual linemates at Caps practice this morning, but it will be important to keep an eye on where he skates in pregame skate, as Nicklas Backstrom is a game-time decision, and his possible return could shake things up. The Vrana-Eller-Oshie trio has been fantastic in Backstrom’s absence, and they’ll likely be in the shutdown role against TB1, which likes to trade chances at even-strength. Eller will see a lot of face-offs as well which will add some bonus points on DraftKings.
Tyler Johnson ($8,100 DK/$8,300 FD)
Johnson’s line has been solid in this series and in these playoffs overall, and his $8,100 price tag seems a bit underpriced. While everyone likes to play the centers on DK because of the face-off bonus, assists and goals are still king, and Johnson’s certainly got some upside tonight. In Game-3, they saw very limited time against the top defensive pairing for the Caps, and that should be the case here in Game-4. Johnson’s 16.3 individual Corsi For per 60 minutes and 9 individual Scoring Chances For per 60 minutes both rank 3rd on the Lightning this postseason and I don’t think he’ll have heavy ownership tonight.
