Kris Bryant
FD: $4400 | Fpts: A | Value: C
DK: $5400 | Fpts: A | Value: C
It’s hard to find a bigger upside play on today’s slate than Kris Bryant vs. Caleb Smith.
For his career, Bryant holds a slash line of .288/.404/.544 vs. LHP, which works out to a wRC+ of 150. Last year, Bryant made hard contact 35.6% of the time against lefties, with a rate of 31.9% against righties. More than anything, this is a match-up between one of the best hitters on the planet and a 26 year old generic left hander with 18 innings of major league experience. My money is on the 2016 MVP.
Aaron Altherr
FD: $2600 | Fpts: B | Value: A
DK: $3500 | Fpts: C | Value: A
Altherr pops up as an interesting value play on both sites, with the Phillies’ outfielder looking to build on a solid 2017 campaign where he hit .270/.340/.516. With Altherr showing some pop last year (19 HRs in 412 PAs), he makes for a sneaky play against the Braves and Mike Foltynewicz, who has some struggles with keeping the ball in the yard. This combo of upside and price is perfect on FanDuel, but you shouldn’t be afraid to have him on DraftKings, either.
Ryan Braun
FD: $3000 | Fpts: A | Value: A
DK: $4200 | Fpts: B | Value: B
Lucky for us, we don’t have to worry about losing fantasy points if Braun gets popped for being on the gas. In his career, Braun has absolutely decimated left handed pitching, mashing to the tune of a .616 SLG% over 1561 PAs. That’s just nasty. Not only is Braun facing lefty Joey Lucchesi tonight, but Lucchesi is making his major league debut. Don’t be surprised to see Braun turn a baseball into a chew toy by blasting one into the Petco cheap seats.
