The following Spotlight Hitters & Stacks were selected by Awesemo.com writer Jake Hari. For more analysis on the slate, check out Awesemo’s Rankings and Ownership Projections.
Braves (vs. MIL)
The Braves are back to their old ways of hammering lefties, as they’re up to the league’s 3rd-best wRC+ against them with a top-3 ISO and and under 20% K-rate. The righties like Albies, Acuna, Suzuki, and Camargo are all some of my favorite plays at their respective positions, but Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis are also two guys I’ll be overweight on, as they hit lefties very well and will probably be left off a lot of Braves stacks at lower stakes.
Brewers (@ATL)
The ol’ game stack comes into play here the Brewers are also a spotlight stack tonight in some great hitting weather in Atlanta. The wind is blowing out and it’s 85 degrees in an already good park, so the recent additions of Mike Moustakas and Jonathan Schoop adding to the depth of this lineup will make it tough on opposing pitcher Julio Teheran. Teheran really has a hard time with lefties, allowing 42% hard-contact and a 6.05 xFIP on the year. Christian Yelich is one of my favorite plays on the slate, but Moustakas, Shaw, and Thames sprinkled throughout this lineup make it a great full-on stack.
Astros (vs. SEA)
Despite their injuries that have gutted the normal Astros lineup, Houston has still been able to hit lefties well as of late. Over the last month, they have a 102 wRC+ and .182 ISO against southpaws, and they just added arguably their best hitter in Carlos Correa. Wade LeBlanc is someone I rarely stack against, but a healthy dose of righty power is going to be tough to overcome. Gurriel, Correa, and Bregman are all too cheap, but I don’t mind going down to Tyler White and Martin Maldanado to differentiate your Astros stack.
