DraftKings and FanDuel Spotlight Pitchers of the Day 4/1

We get another day of seemingly soft pitcher pricing with only two pitchers over $10K on DraftKings for the main slate. Below you’ll find a couple pitchers that Awesemo is especially liking today, following by analysis by myself (Tommienation1). So plug these guys into some lineups, sit back, (ignore your families) and turn on some baseball!

Jose Quintana ($11,700 DK/$8,800 FD)

“Quintana is a -200 favorite even on the road, and he deserves his __ points grade this afternoon as he had a .373 xFIP and 26.2 K% last season, which are both in the top-4 of any pitcher on the slate.”

Not only does Vegas like Quintana in this matchup today, but the individual matchups look solid for him, as the Marlins best power bat, Justin Bour, is a lefty, and there isn’t much right-handed power in the lineup otherwise. The Marlins 3.3 total is currently the lowest on the slate, and Quintana’s .122 WHIP allows him to avoid disaster starts and stay out of trouble, which can’t be said about a lot of the other pitchers on the slate. You’ll have to pay up for him on DK, but the safety, K-upside, and value bats should allow you to do that here.

Luke Weaver ($8,000 DK/$7,800 FD)

“Weaver will face the Mets on the road, who have a 3.7 implied team total in some good pitching weather. With some of the highest strikeout upside on the board, it’s hard to pass him up at this discounted price on DK.”

Last year, Weaver had a 28.6% K-rate and was the only pitcher on the slate to have an xFIP under 3.5. In fact, Weaver’s xFIP was below 3 (2.93) last year, showing fantastic numbers against both righty hitters. Of all pitchers on the slate, he allowed the lowest hard-hit rate (25.9%), which is a stat I love to see out of my pitchers. Facing (likely) 4 players hitters that strike out at an above-20% clip vs. righties, Weaver has a great chance to rack up some Ks this afternoon to give you some upside in GPPs.
