What’s up guys, Awesemo’s coming at you today for the spotlight pitchers. I will take a more in depth look at the strategy for pitchers this evening so here are my top pitchers on the early slate.

Andrew Suarez, SD @ SF (7900 DK, 7300 FD)

The Padres are one of the top match-ups for pitchers, striking out more than average and not producing a lot of runs. I project the Padres to strike out 106% of the league average today while Suarez has a 23.5 K% so far this season. That works out to a lot of K’s. Topping it off, the Padres have the third lowest team total on the slate. Commanding a reasonable price, Suarez is my top pitcher on the slate in terms of projection and price.

Sonny Gray, NYY @ TB (6900 DK, 8300 FD)

While the Rays lineup isn’t quite as bad as the Padres, they’re close. They have averaged only 3.85 runs per game this year and their team total of 3.6 is the lowest on the slate. I have them projected to strike out about average and Sonny Gray’s K% is 20.2 this year. All of this combines to a very solid value for 6900 on DK; however, I don’t expect to have him as much on FanDuel for 8300.

Zack Greinke, ARI @ PIT (9700 DK, 8900 FD)

Facing the Pirates in Pittsburgh is by no means a great matchup. I project their lineup to strike out only 88.6% of the league average; however, their team total is only 3.9. Greinke has stepped it up in strike outs in recent years, averaging 26.8 K% in 2017 and 25.6 so far this year. Greinke is my top projected pitcher of the slate, outranking Aaron Nola who is more expensive but faces a tough matchup on the road versus the Nationals. Still, he’s not a great value so I don’t like him as much as Suarez or Gray, but I will take him if I have cheap stacks in my lineup.

Alex is better known to fantasy players by his handle "Awesemo" from seeing him in every big tournament in the industry. Playing poker professionally from 2009-2015, he heard that daily fantasy was the next big game picking up steam, and he quickly saw the potential of the relatively new game. Growing his bankroll from 2015-2016, he made a big step in 2017 by claiming the #1 overall ranking on RotoGrinders for the year. After completing his primary objective, he was looking for what's next. Attending dozens of fantasy events, Alex realized that everyone was repeating the same story: wanting to be a great DFS player while holding down a full-time job. He realized that the resources available to fantasy players while great weren't enough to help hobbyists get to the level of competing with the top pros. Having met Tom Kennedy during the FanDuel Scottish Open, the two decided to take on the realm of fantasy content along with co-founder Eddie Lai. Alex creates his own projections for each sport he plays, publishing rankings derived directly from them updated for each major slate.
