The following picks come from Awesemo.com’s Director of Content, Josh Engleman. Josh posts his projections daily for subscribers and is the co-host of the NBA Strategy show Monday through Friday morning.
Buddy Hield
This might be the first time I’ve recommended Buddy Hield as a play since he was at Oklahoma. Hield has been excellent this season, and a date with a lackluster Timberwolves defense shouldn’t slow him down. This game has the highest total on the slate. The Wolves have given up fantasy points 5% more than average this year, good for 26th in the league. I don’t expect the defense to improve with Derrick Rose playing 30+ minutes. I think Hield has the best combination of upside and price at shooting guard tonight. He’s even more appealing on DraftKings with G/F eligibility.
Andre Drummond
Nikola Jokic is the center getting love in our ownership projections, and while I think Jokic looks good tonight, Drummond is the guy I’ll have a ton of. The Hawks are a terrible rebounding team, ranking 27th in offensive rebounding and 25th in defensive rebounding. Drummond, meanwhile, has a case for being the best overall rebounder in basketball this year. For a big man, he sports above average rates for both steals and blocks. If that’s not enough, the Hawks give up a ton of shots at the rim, a place where Drummond takes 86% of his shots. I simply see no reason to prioritize a different center.
