Robert Covington: good enough. Lou Williams: bleh. Not the best night for picks. I’m really loving this slate though, and I have quite a few guys in my core much more frequently than the public does. For example…
Jaren Jackson
At this time of writing, we’re projecting Jaren Jackson to low-owned. I, on the other hand, have him north of 20%. The Grizzlies are short-handed, with Chandler Parsons and Dillon Brooks set to miss tonight’s game. Jackson has been solid thus far, scoring ~0.54 fantasy points per possession. If he maintains that rate, he’ll be right at value. That’s an excellent starting point, particularly on a night with a relatively weak power forward crop. I haven’t even mentioned that they play the Sacramento Kings. On a per possession basis, the Kings rank 27th in fantasy points allowed. All signs point to the rookie being an excellent mid-tier play.
Kemba Walker
I’m a bit surprised Kemba’s ownership isn’t higher, even on an 11-game slate. He’s been aggressively gunning with 32 three-point attempts over his first three games. The Bulls defense is playing directly into his hands this year. 41% of shots taken against the Bulls have been taken from three, a figure that ranks dead last in the NBA. It’s even more appealing due to the fact that they’re dead last in non corner threes, as well. I see no reason why Kemba cools off against Cam Payne, or Zach LaVine, or whomever the Bulls trot out to slow him down. Fire up as much Kemba as you possibly can.
Kawhi Leonard
One more time, I’m going to Kawhi Leonard. He’s still just underpriced relative to his talent level. I have absolutely no fear of a match-up with Jimmy Butler, and, on the off-chance Minnesota is switching, things will simply get better. On FanDuel, for instance, there are three guys more expensive than Kawhi. I’d much rather save the $2100 that you’d need to go with LeBron. $2100 takes you from Kemba Walker down to Jeff Teague? Goran Dragic? It’s not close for me. As Lil Dicky said, “Save that money.”
