PGA DFS Golf Picks This Week: The 2022 Masters
This column will include 6 to 12 players as part of the core, which earns my highest allocation on DFS and is matched with bets across the board. With the biggest event of the year, everyone who can and qualified will tee it up this week, and Collin Morikawa, Jordan Spieth and Patrick Cantlay are among them.
PGA Weather Forecast
Wind speeds are expected to be noticeable over the first 2 1/2 days. Be sure to check out Awesemo’s new PGA Weather Tool, a great resource to show projected strokes gained on the field based on expected weather during tee times.
PGA DFS Slate Preview
Total expected player pool: 67
For years I’ve said that the Masters is the toughest contest to play the highest-dollar Millionaire Maker. With such a limited field compared to other majors, 6-for-6 is such a necessity, and that has not happened for me. So I’ll have two distinct strategies for each of the $15 Millionaire Maker and the $100 Millionaire Maker.

$100 Millionaire Maker Player Pool
Beating 28,000-plus entries to win $1 million this week is perinatally the dream, but it also won’t take nearly a perfect of lineup as it will take against 300,000-plus entries. With that, I’ll play a much smaller player pool and go more conservative. Making around 20 or 30 lineups, here is my expected player pool for them, in order of ownership percentage:

Fantasy Golf Picks for the $15 Millionaire Maker
Three hundred thousand entries is the largest contest for PGA DFS one can find. It’s on path to fill as of 12:30 on Wednesday) and, obviously, will be hard to win. But there are a few strategies that have worked in the past and can guide to building lineups that have at least a chance of being a unique $1 million lineup. Here is my player pool in order of ownership percentage for the $15 Millionaire Maker contest and a note about the highest-owned golfers in the pool.
Core PGA DFS Picks
- Jordan Spieth ($9,800 DraftKings): Low ownership with a rising tee to green on a week that should favor golfers that are superb around the green. It’s a “go broke or go home” week for Spieth owners, and everyone knows who the conductor of that train is.
- Collin Morikawa ($10,200): With so many options up top and arguably some of the worst form among them (both at Augusta and recently), Morikawa is being left out of a ton of lineups. He allows for the lineup to match up with higher-owned golfers like Jon Rahm or Cameron Smith.
- Jon Rahm ($10,800): The putter had never been a problem in Rahm’s career before the last three months. Those that have watched his career know that his slumps don’t last long in his camp, and if this is the week his putts start falling, he could become the fourth player from Spain to win a green jacket.
- Cameron Smith ($9,900): As long as every lineup starts with either Spieth or Morikawa and then either Rahm, Smith or Thomas, there should be enough diversity upfront to create a unique lineup.
- Viktor Hovland ($10,100): The third appearance for the budding star. Not a ton of attention is going to him this week, and he is priced in between Smith and Thomas.
- Will Zalatoris ($9,200): If Zalatoris has to putt everything from outside of five feet this week, he might win. He has a solid price, even with the yips on his short putting.
- Patrick Cantlay ($9,400): These last three guys are all projected at 10% ownership and seem like easy targets to get leverage on the field by stacking together in lineups.
- Xander Schauffele ($9,600): It hasn’t been the best or worst start to the year for Schauffele, and he always comes in higher owned than his projection.
- Dustin Johnson ($10,500): Trending into the week in some of the best form he’s been in all year certainly bodes well for this past champion.
