PGA DFS & Fantasy Golf Preview for the RBC Canadian Open 2022

Open season has officially begun, as the next two weeks feature the national opens of the United States and our friends up north, Canada. After a few years of hiatus due to COVID-19, the Canadian Open finally returns, and this year it’ll be played at St. George’s Golf Club in Toronto. Not to be confused with the Royal St. George’s Golf Club, which is also an Open Championship course, this St. George’s has hosted five previous Canadian Opens. Carl Pettersson won the most recent one in 2010 with a winning score of -14. Let’s learn a bit more about the course and the players as well as preview the PGA DFS slate for the upcoming RBC Canadian Open.

PGA DFS Golf Rankings, Stats & Predicted Scoring

A three-hole stretch, holes 9 to 11, will provide some of the best scoring chances all week and yield plenty of birdie streaks. The hardest hole on the course, at least back in 2010, was the 18th hole. Being a game changer in either direction always makes for fireworks coming down the stretch. In this case, bogey or worse certainly comes into play, making no lead safe. Interestingly enough, in 2010, the par-3 sixth hole actually yielded more birdies than the par-5 15th hole, which should change this week.

A trend is continuing to emerge with at least half the world’s top 10 golfers playing the week before a major championship. Scottie Scheffler is joined by Rory McIlroy, Sam Burns, Justin Thomas and Masters foe Cameron Smith. The field does have a bit of a drop-off outside of those five, though, as there are only seven more golfers ranked inside the top 50 in the world. Matt Fitzpatrick will look to shake off a missed cut at the Memorial and is joined by Ryder Cup teammates Shane Lowry and Tyrrell Hatton. Harold Varner will try to recover from his back-nine 45 at the Charles Schwab Challenge, still in search of his first PGA Tour victory. Tony Finau, Patrick Reed and Corey Conners round out the big names here this week.
