Main-Slate Picks

Chicago White Sox vs. RHP Adbert Alzolay – 5.2 implied runs

The Cubs are locked into their playoff slot. The White Sox, however, could win the AL Central today or fall to the No. 7 seed. Alzolay will draw the start, and he should be good for around 75 pitches. It is likely that Jose Quintana will follow him in a role reversal from their last appearance five days ago.

At this point you all know the drill. Mix and match the Southsiders, as they most definitely have something to play for.

Atlanta Braves vs. RHP Nick Pivetta – 5.4 implied runs

While the Braves are cemented in their slot, their bench is pretty thin with Austin Riley dinged up and with them carrying 11 pitchers. My guess is that Freddie Freeman, Travis d’Arnaud or Adam Duvall will get the day off, with one of them serving as the DH and the other playing the field. We should see Adeiny Hechavarria and Nick Markakis in the lineup, which means they are not going to be available for an in-game replacement. Whomever ends up in the starting lineup is likely to play the full game. Pivetta has been a disaster this season, managing to go only 10.2 innings over four outings with a 9.28 ERA and 1.69 base runners per inning along with three home runs.

Related MLB Content

Colorado Rockies at LHP Madison Bumgarner – 4.5 implied runs

Neither of these teams have anything to play for, but the Rockies are going against Bumgarner, who has allowed a whopping 13 home runs in just 36.2 innings. That works out to a 7-home-run pace if he were to pitch 200 innings and would shatter the MLB record for most home runs allowed in a season. The roof will be closed this afternoon, but do not let that stop you from rolling out Colorado hitters.
