WNBA DFS Picks: Diana Taurasi and Natasha Howard, DraftKings | FanDuel

The playoffs are here for the WNBA. Now a word. WNBA playoff DFS is different than regular season DFS. That player on the bench that saw 10-15 minutes a game is no longer going to see those minutes. Barring foul trouble we can expect the studs to play the entire game sans 1 or 2 minutes. This also brings up a point. On FanDuel it is a legit strategy to basically intentionally take a zero in order to spend up for the studs. It basically goes like this. You are better off taking a zero from a 3k player there than five fantasy points from a 4.5k player if that extra 1.5 allows you to spend up for a stud. Bear in mind there is probably a pool of maybe fourteen players that are actually going to be DFS relevant.

Phoenix Mercury Guards

I expect Diana Taurasi to play. Now, she is priced out of play on FanDuel. But on DraftKings, Taurasi is 5.8 and is a tempting GPP play. She should see 25 minutes or so. Maybe she summons the ghosts playoffs past. DeWanna Bonner is under priced on DraftKings and I like her on FanDuel as well. Last playoffs Bonner went nuts and broke slate after slate. Yes she has struggled, but this is a great matchup and I expect her to play the whole game. Briann January is a strong cash play as she will play probably close to 30 minutes in this game, and is under priced specifically on FanDuel for the role. If you want to take a low owned flier Yvonne Turner could be interesting.

Phoenix Mercury Forwards

This is simple. It’s Brittney Griner in a great matchup where she will play 33 minutes at least. Fade at your own risk. By the way, I think on DraftKings it’s a legit strategy to stack Griner with Bonner.

Chicago Sky Guards

Courtney VanderSloot is in a strong matchup in a game where I expect Chicago to run the offense through her. Very strong play. Diamond DeShields is at home but this is the playoffs. I just prioritize Bonner and Vandersloot over her. Gabby Williams is probably going to get traction after playing more than 20 minutes in the last two games. I tend to lean Allie Quigley here. I expect her minutes to spike as the coach leans on veterans. If I was to play Gabby it would be on FanDuel. But I like Quigley a bunch here. If you need a deep guard punt on FanDuel Katie Lou Samuelson is only 3.4. She might get like five minutes and get you like seven fantasy points which could be enough.

Chicago Sky Forwards

I hate that I think the key to the slate might be getting the correct Chicago forwards. On FanDuel Stefanie Dolson is more inexpensive than the other two and that is my lean. On DraftKings where they are all bunched closer together, I would try to get up to Astou Ndour. Cheyene Parker  is also a strong play. I would sprinkle each of them around.

Minnesota Lynx Guards

Odyssey Sims is in a real strong spot. She is the one Lynx guard who I am extremely confident in their minutes. On FanDuel she is priced too close to Bonner or VanderSloot, but on DraftKings there is a nice price decrease. I like her a lot there. Of the other Minnesota Guards I think the two in play are Lexi Brown and Danielle Robinson. It appears the coach has been leaning Brown’s way recently. I like Brown over Robinson, but by all means play both (tout hedge).

Minnesota Lynx Forwards

Sylvia Fowles is an interesting spot here. Most likely the coach leans on the veterans so assuming she avoids foul trouble (which has been an issue for her this year), I like her a ton at a reduced price. Naphreesa Collier: normally a rookie on the road would make me nervous but with the usage and ability I like her a ton. I just prefer Griner and Howard more. Damiris Dantas is a much stronger play on FanDuel than DraftKings. This being the playoffs I expect her minutes to spike here.

Seattle Storm Guards

Jewel Lloyd is in a great spot here. She is underpriced. She is a veteran playing at home, and is a cash play on FanDuel. Jordin Canada could benefit from Minnesota’s penchant for turning the ball over but there are just sooo many strong guard plays. Shevonte Zellous has been getting about 10-20 minutes and I like her as a punt on FanDuel.

Seattle Storm Forwards

Natasha Howard is extremely expensive and in a tough matchup, but she is also going to play 35 minutes in a home game. After Griner she is my second favorite stud on the slate. Alysha Clark is another player about to see 35 minutes. Her price is down on both sites and I love her here. Mercedes Russell is another player that is too cheap. Crystal Langhorne is a veteran. I could see her getting some extra minutes in this game if anyone gets in foul trouble.
