LoL DFS Picks: DraftKings LPL + LCK Slate Breakdown
HANWHA LIFE ESPORTS
With the season completing today, there’s really nothing to play for in this series between HLE and T1. When there’s nothing but pride to play for, sometimes teams are a little more loose, and more willing to experiment with weirder setups during games, however with both of these teams being playoff bound, it’s also very likely that they just play a standard series. Crafting the narrative of this being a more light hearted series makes this a possibly interesting LoL DFS series, whereas if we knew ahead of time this would be standard, I’d like this series a little less on the whole, even if I on the whole I like HLE a little bit more.Â
T1
Time will only tell if T1’s massive number of roster swaps this split changes how other teams go about player development, especially during spring splits. Currently on a three series win streak with what many would consider the “obvious” starting five heading in the LCK spring split, T1 gets a free night to potentially continue momentum heading into playoffs. One thing is certain, and it’s that the presumed set of starters are definitely LoL DFS viable, and even though HLE is cleaning up some of their mistakes, they’re still prone to big death games. Teddy vs Deft is a fun little matchup, and if T1 comes out on top, I like Teddy quite a bit.Â
LGD GAMING
No matter what the scenario is, LGD has quite a steep hill to climb if they wish to challenge RNG tonight. LGD is at best an unreliable, unattractive underdog option on a slate where LGD winning would be more surprising then seeing any of the other series divulging into a fiesta. It’s the last night of regular season LPL + LCK slates, but that still doesn’t make LGD an attractive LoL DFS option tonight.Â
ROYAL NEVER GIVE UP
Facing off against a team that just died 52 times in a sweep to IG is quite exciting for RNG’s LoL DFS prospects. Anything other than a 2-0 likely involves many RNG shenanigans, and as such it’s very hard not to love the 2nd place kills per game team in the LPL. Pick your favorite RNG member tonight, and for me I’m interested to see how Gala closes out the regular season.Â
LIIV SANDBOX
Ending the LCK spring split sees LSB taking on DRX. Nobody ever can predict how a series with no meaning will go down, and not so secretly I’m a fan of hoping for wild games for the purposes of LoL DFS, which helps in making LSB more attractive tonight. I’m not against taking shots on LSB tonight, with Summit being someone I can see doing well in a series victory.Â
DRX
Even though DRX is firmly locked into their spot, it’s very easy to imagine that they’d prefer a little upswing of form heading into the LCK playoffs. DRX is capable of beating LSB even if the talent discrepancy is basically nil, and especially so if they’re the side that comes out hungry. At the end of the day it’s hard to understand where exactly DRX might head this series, however in a full 100% effort series from both teams, taking chances on Pyosik gets me a little excited.Â
RARE ATOM
Closing out the regular season LPL split is RA taking on EDG. RA as a team is one of the more interesting teams to look at from a season long perspective. They’ll look bad against bad teams, and look crisp against good teams. This series is for me, the one to be the most normal series, as both teams possibly could have reasons to play standard with respect to playoff seeding. My preference is the other side of this match, however I’m not opposed to a little RA, with FoFo sitting at the top as per usual.Â
EDWARD GAMING
Of the teams in the playoffs I expect to take a night off so to speak, EDG ranks really low in that, especially as if somehow RNG loses, they’ll have a shot at snagging first place. I’m expecting the normal level of EDG play, which honestly is already very exciting, and if that’s the case, another 2-0 could be on the cards. Viper is my favorite EDG option tonight, although I’ll be peppering in plenty of EDG as they all have rock solid kill participations.Â
Favorite LoL DFS picks on the slate:
JNG-Wei. Leading RNG in kill participation is an immediate bonus in a series which RNG shouldn’t have any issues controlling, and he’ll be a key part in many of my RNG stacks.Â
ADC-Viper. With many series having a small chance at being a little wonky, putting more trust in teams that are just good regardless sounds pretty appealing to me, and Viper alongside EDG fits that bill.Â
Favorite contrarian LoL DFS pick on the slate:
HLE-If you’re interested in series that can go off the rails, might I suggest a HLE team that’s already done weird stuff during games that matter. Even if they play normally, I expect HLE to challenge T1, and as such, I’m not so secretly interested in them tonight.Â
