Today, there is one last set of four games concludes the initial start of play-ins at 2021 League of Legends World Championship. The slate for League of Legends DFS today remains strong, which bodes well for Thursday’s lineups. Using Awesemo’s expert projections, we will break down each matchup and find the top LoL DFS picks for DraftKings on Thursday, Oct. 7.
LoL DFS Picks: DraftKings World Championship Day 3
Kicking off the main slate on DraftKings provides us a seemingly one-sided game with INF taking on LNG in a must win game. For INF to compete here, they are going to need to perform at a level they have yet to this entire year, making them viable for only the bravest LoL DFS players, with Whitelotus still remaining at the top of the pile.
Pre-tournament LNG was always a clear favorite to advance to the group stage, and coming out on top here ensures them a direct ticket. LoL DFS can be a fickle beast, but LNG is the biggest favorite for a reason, making everyone on this team extremely viable.
Success has not come easy for PCE during play-ins even in their win, but their closing game against RED offers another opportunity to snatch a win which, even though this game is likely, will only be deciding the difference between third and fourth in the group. Babip is a player to keep an eye on for PCE, as if he can find pathways to getting either Tally or Vizicsacsi ahead, PCE has the potential to be a sneakier LoL DFS option.
Netting a win here will at worst solidify that RED has an opportunity to make the group stage, if INF are capable of upsetting LNG, and while RED is one of the winnable games for PCE, the opposite is also true. Should RED find kinks in the game play of PCE, like they managed to do against INF, it’s likely that RED comes out victorious here, and while they’re not a slam dunk, with other more exciting favorites on the slate, Titan is a player that could go overlooked, especially if this game goes sideways with two teams that are extremely likely going to be playing a best of five against each other the next day.
Instant elimination has been avoided for DFM as they are currently 2-0, but getting a win here would secure them the second seed in the group, which would allow DFM to avoid a match against HLE, so stakes are huge. This has potential to be an incredibly tight contest, even with the poor BYG form, and even though Aria is outputting 29.2% of his team’s damage, his kill participation (KP) sits at a meager 39.4% this stage, so if that ticks up in a DFM win, he could be a solid LoL DFS option tonight.
Possibly the biggest underperformers of the Play-In Stage, BYG enters this game with potential to create a three-way tie for second should they win. Getting that win will not be as easy as expected pre-tournament, but they are still probably the more talented team top to bottom, and keeping an eye on their ownership, could be a strong strategy on this LoL DFS slate. Doggo has been largely fantastic up to this point, and if BYG finds success, it is easy to see it manufactured through his success.
UNICORNS OF LOVE
Finding themselves down 0-2 after the first day, especially with those two games likely being their best shots at win, did not paint a pretty picture for success. Since this is a four-game round robin where only the last place team is instantly eliminated, there is still an opportunity for them to fight for a spot, if BYG loses. Unfortunately, it is going to be difficult, but if they do manage to pull off the upset, they are going to need to be stronger in the early game, which can easily fall on the shoulders of AHaHaCiK.
Before this tournament started, this was likely set as the last match with intentions of this being a potential EU vs. NA battle for either the top spot, or second spot in the group, but both teams find themselves with different battles. If DFM wins their game against BYG, all C9 needs to do is win this game to instantly advance to group stage, but if BYG wins, this game suddenly has no impact on the final standings, as both C9 and UOL would have their positions locked in, making this a potential fiesta should both teams opt into it. Perkz vs. Nomanz is the most exciting lane in this game, and if Perkz comes out on top, he will likely be an alluring LoL DFS option.
JNG – Blaber. C9 is not the safest play on the slate, but Blaber offers solid upside in a game C9 needs to better position themselves going forward.
Favorite Contrarian Pick
TOP – Vizicsacsi. As a veteran of the scene, the top laner filling in for PCE boasts some Worlds success from 2019 and could be a clever LoL DFS option tonight.
