An entire year culminates for this exact moment. It’s been a wild ride, but at the end of the night one team will reign supreme and come out as World Champions for 2020. Showdown is a new style on DraftKings, and I’m taking a look at the series, as well as some of my favorite LoL DFS showdown captains.

LoL DFS Showdown | Worlds Final
Damwon Gaming (DWG) vs. Suning (SN)
The LCK is once again in contention at Worlds finals, and honestly it feels refreshing as a fan. As a once dominant region, the LCK stagnated over the last couple of years, however DWG breaks a lot of the traditional LCK expectations with how they play. Just two years ago this was the organization that stormed through Challengers Korea with almost as much hype as a team could have entering the LCK. 2019 was a mostly successful year before succumbing to G2 in the quarterfinals, but with Ghost at the ADC, and Canyon firmly entrenched as one of the best junglers in the world, DWG is in a prime position to bring the title back to the LCK. LoL DFS wise, Showmaker has to be the first piece you look at if you believe DWG wins. The mid laner is up against arguably the least impactful member of SN, and if Canyon finds avenues for ganks, he and Showmaker could shine.
This has to be one of the least expected finalists at this World Championship, not because SN is a bad team, but because they came in as the presumed third best team from the LPL. Nonetheless, they took down their region’s top two teams and have fully earned the right to compete for the title. With this being dubbed by some as “The Battle of the Scrim Gods,” SN is a team that can pose legitimate problems to DWG. SN’s greatest strength is that each player is fully capable of finding, and exploiting openings. Confidence can be seen through their play, and even if overconfidence can sometimes be a slow and insidious killer, SN rarely finds themselves toeing that line. Both teams are capable of putting up a high kill total in game wins, and my favorite option from SN has to be huanfeng. Huanfeng has exceeded expectations, and as one of the feel good stories of Worlds, he could easily be the person to wrap up the title for the LPL.
Favorite LoL DFS Showdown Captain
JNG – Canyon. Canyon is an exemplary LoL DFS play any time he’s rosterable. Showdown presents new ways to think about roster construction on DraftKings as you NEED one captain and one flex from each team. Canyon might be popular since he’ll be cheaper than ShowMaker, but that’s not really going to deter me.
JNG – SofM. Weird seeing two JNG here, but SofM should be cheap, and it’s difficult to see SN getting swept 3-0 too often. He shouldn’t kill your lineups if they get stomped, and if they manage to win, he’s probably going to put up a respectable score.
Favorite Off-the-Wall LoL DFS Showdown cCptain
SUP – BeryL. We’ve got two playmaker supports tonight, and typically when your team wins, you score well. I like DWG to take the series, and for BeryL to put up a solid enough score to probably jam in more expensive options everywhere else.
