OBJ's dad, Odell Beckham Sr, shares his excitement with his son's release after he posted a video of all the times Baker Mayfield missed OBJ

Even when Odell Beckham Jr. fails, the consensus continues to believe in his talent. When looking at NFL fantasy football average draft position today, Odell Beckham Jr is coming off the board as a top-30 wide receiver. The question at hand is, can Beckham return to his former glory, or will he burn out in 2021? We will find out with a deep dive into Beckham’s 2020 season and project where he could finish in 2021.

2021 Fantasy Football Player Previews: Odell Beckham Jr.

Beckham Production in 2020

Beckham was a top-12 wide receiver heading into 2020. Those top-12 dreams were washed away following an ACL tear in Week 7. In seven games Beckham had 44 targets (94th among wide receivers) and 23 receptions (101st) for 319 yards (100th) and four touchdowns (48th). He was on pace for 53 receptions on 101 targets, 729 yards and seven touchdowns had he not been injured. So even if he had been healthy, his production would have been far from excellent.

Browns Offseason Changes

Offensively not much changed for the Browns, as much of the team’s changes on the Browns came on the defensive side. The defense has progressively gotten better to get better, which reinforces the expectation of Cleveland being a run-heavy offense.

Beckham’s Outlook in 2021

Beckham is just not in the correct situation, and he has not been all the great since joining the Browns. Cleveland looks to put their nose down and run the ball under head coach Kevin Stefanski. With such talented backs in Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, it is easy to run an offense this way. They ran the ball at a 47.78% clip in 2020, ranking fourth most in the NFL. With how effective the rushing attack is, there should be no reason to stray away from what worked in 2020. With that said, there is really no chance that Beckham will return to being an elite option in fantasy football. Even being drafted outside of the top 24, there is very little upside in drafting him in the middle rounds. However, there will likely be many scenarios in friends and family leagues in which he will go much higher than that due to the name value. With such a run-heavy team and with Beckham not looking like his younger years, his lack of real upside drops him well into the back half of drafts.
