With the start of the NFL season rapidly approaching, it also means we are getting closer to prime fantasy football drafting season. We here at Awesemo have all of the information that you’ll need to help take home the crown in your league, including our position-by-position fantasy football rankings. Let’s dive into our top-three quarterbacks and discuss their potential outlooks moving forward. All fantasy football rankings are based on half-PPR scoring.

Mike Barner goes over Awesemo’s Top Three Quarterbacks in our fantasy football rankings for 2020.

Awesemo’s Fantasy Football Rankings: Top Three Quarterbacks

1. Lamar Jackson, Baltimore Ravens

Jackson’s 2019 campaign was nothing short of spectacular. He’s not your standard pocket quarterback, which is what makes him such a valuable fantasy asset. He wreaks havoc with his legs, and that resulted in him rushing 176 times for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns a season ago. While a lot of the focus is on his rushing stats, he wasn’t exactly a slouch in the passing department, either. He completed 66.1% of his attempts for 3,127 yards and an extremely efficient 36 touchdowns. Turnovers through the air were not a problem for him, either, given his 6:1 TD-INT rate.

Have we seen the best season of Jackson’s career already? We may have, but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to be a stellar fantasy option. His rushing ability leaves him with an incredibly high floor and worthy of being the first quarterback off the board. He could also continue to improve as a passer, which is a scary proposition for the rest of the league. His Awesemo projection is 361 fantasy points, which is an average of a whopping 24.2 per game. Jackson is the #2 option in Awesemo’s fantasy football rankings.

2. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

If there is anyone in the debate with Jackson for the No. 1 overall quarterback in fantasy, it’s Mahomes. Despite missing a couple of games due to injury in 2019, he still threw for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns. Amazingly, that seems like a disappointment given that he amassed 5,097 passing yards and 50 touchdowns in 2018.

Mahomes is in an ideal situation. Not only is he extremely talented, but the weapons around him are exceptional. Travis Kelce is among the best tight ends in the league, and Tyreek Hill is one of the most dangerous wide receivers with his blazing speed. To top it off, the Chiefs drafted running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the first round. He was widely regarded as one of the top pass-catching running backs in the draft. With the Chiefs up-tempo offense resulting in his 1,064 combined passing attempts the last two seasons, Mahomes is once again set up to thrive. Aweseomo projects him to score 332 fantasy points this season, not too far off Jackson. Mahomes is the #2 option in Awesemo’s fantasy football rankings.

3. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Prescott took a significant leap forward last season partially because the Cowboys provided him with more opportunities to throw the ball. His pass attempts had been slowly increasing heading into 2019, but the 596 attempts a season ago was a nearly 15% increase from 2018. He’s normally been accurate, which continued with his 65.1% completion rate last year. The end result was 4,902 passing yards, which was more than 1,000 higher than his previous career best. He also threw for 30 touchdowns.

Heading into 2020, big things are expected from Prescott once again. He has weapons galore around him, especially at the receiver position. With the talented duo of Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup already in place, the Cowboys couldn’t pass up the opportunity to select CeeDee Lamb in the draft. Add in Ezekiel Elliott at running back and a strong offensive line and the Cowboys should be one of the top offensive teams in the league. Given that he likely won’t go off the board until two or three rounds after Jackson and Mahomes, Prescott could actually prove to be almost as valuable as those two when you consider overall roster construction and the draft capital that it would take to acquire him. In fact, Awesemo projections have him scoring 294 fantasy points. That means he’s projected to score 19.6 fantasy points per game compared to 22.2 for Mahomes and 24.2 for Jackson. Prescott is the #3 option in Awesemo’s fantasy football rankings.
