Week 10 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Running Backs: Antonio Gibson & James Conner

Running back has been a highly variable position this year, so analyzing matchups becomes all the more important for fantasy football. Below we will break down the NFL fantasy football rankings and go over the Week 10 fantasy football start ’em/sit ’em running backs.

Week 10 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Running Backs

Must Start: James Conner — Cardinals vs. Panthers

In last week’s game against the 49ers Chase Edmonds suffered a high ankle sprain that will land him on the short-term injured reserve. His exit left the door wide open for Conner to have a smash game, and he ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns. and caught all five of his targets for 77 yards and a touchdown. While Eno Benjamin will see some work, Conner is now the clear lead back.

Must Start: Devonta Freeman — Ravens at Dolphins

While the Ravens backfield was quite the headache early in the season, as of the last three weeks Freeman has been the clear lead back. He has scored in three straight games, and last week he carries 13 times for 79 yards and caught a touchdown. This week he faces the Dolphins, who are atrocious against the run. As long as Latavius Murray does not return from injury, Freeman is a strong play.

Must Start: Jordan Howard — Eagles at Broncos

Based on the Eagles backfield since Miles Sanders suffered an injury, Howard clearly has a strong role. Last week against the Chargers, Boston Scott played 44% of the snaps, Howard 40% and Kenneth Gainwell 19%. That said, Howard led the team in rushes with 17, while Scott had 10 and Gainwell had two. Howard ran 71 yards and a touchdown in that game, giving him three touchdowns in just two games. Start Howard this week with confidence.

Must Sit: Adrian Peterson — Titans vs. Saints

While Peterson scored last week, that is about all he did. He had 10 carries for just 21 yards otherwise. Jeremy McNichols led the team in snaps with 26, while Peterson had 19 and D’Onta Foreman had 12. This week Tennessee faces the No. 2 run defense by DVOA in the Saints, so Peterson is a must-sit.

Must Sit: Mike Davis — Falcons at Cowboys

Last week against the Saints Davis and Cordarrelle Patterson both played 33 snaps. While this is a running back by committee, Patterson is the preferred option in their offense. Davis saw nine carries for just 13 yards and also fumbled once.

Must Sit: Antonio Gibson — Washington vs. Buccaneers

Since Washington was on a bye week last week, people may have forgotten how much of a disaster Gibson has been as of late. He has failed to eclipse 7 half-PPR points in the last three games. In Week 8 against the Broncos he had eight rushes for 34 yards and three catches for 20 yards. J.D. McKissic has also seen more usage the last few weeks, which clouds this situation even more.
