Week 10 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Tight Ends: Pat Freiermuth & Dallas Goedert

Looking towards Week 10 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will look into the matchups to discern the positive or negative impact a given matchup will have on tight ends. Below are the Week 10 start ’em sit ’em tight ends based on their matchups.

Week 10 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends

Must Start: Pat Freiermuth — Steelers vs. Lions

Freiermuth has been on a tear recently. Since the Steelers gave him the opportunity to be the No. 1 tight end, he has done nothing except be extremely successful. Last week against the Bears he had five receptions on six targets for 43 yards and two touchdowns. Match this great opportunity with the positive matchup against the 29th-ranked pass defense by DVOA, and this should be a smash matchup for Freiermuth.

Must Start: Dan Arnold — Jaguars at Colts

Like Freiermuth, Arnold is playing well right now. This is due to the team fully committing to utilizing a tight end. Over the last two weeks he has a combined 17 targets for 12 receptions and 128 yards. While Arnold has yet to score a touchdown this season, the touchdowns should eventually flow his way. The Colts defense also got carved up by Josh Johnson and the Jets offense last week, so it would not be a surprise if the Jaguars were able to score some points.

Must Start: Hunter Henry — Patriots vs. Browns

Henry continues to find his way into the end zone weekly. He has scored in five of the last six games, and in Week 9 he had two receptions on three targets for 19 yards and a touchdown. It also appears that Jonnu Smith provides zero worries for Henry’s upside. While all of his value comes from scoring a touchdown, continue to ride the hot streak with Henry.

Must Sit: Jared Cook — Chargers vs. Vikings

While the Chargers are one of the upper-echelon teams in the NFL, it is difficult to make a case to start Cook. Last week against the Eagles he saw four targets and caught all four for 48 yards, and that stat line appears to be his upside unless he scores a touchdown. Scoring that touchdown has proven to be difficult, as Donald Parham has poached several score from him. In the last four games, Parham has had three touchdowns to Cook’s one. Avoid Cook at all costs.

Must Sit: Dallas Goedert — Eagles at Broncos

The Eagles have shifted from a team that barely ran the ball early in the season to a team that looks to run all of the time. That is shocking considering it took Miles Sanders getting hurt and almost halfway into the season for Nick Sirianni to commit to the run. Last week against the Chargers Goedert had just three receptions on six targets for 43 yards. Unless they stop running the ball as much, the upside for Goedert is severely limited.
