Week 4 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: MUST-START WRs Based on Matchups

Looking towards Week 4 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will examine all of the matchups and discern the positive or negative impact that a given matchup will have on the wide receivers. Below is the best fantasy football start ’em sit ’em advice for Week 4 NFL matchups.

Week 4 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Wide Receivers

Must Start: Jaylen Waddle — Miami Dolphins vs. Indianapolis Colts

Waddle has been off to a hot start to his career, as he is the WR33 in half-PPR. While Waddle has yet to get over 61 yards receiving, the volume coming his way is enough to make him a must-start. In the first three starts he had six, eight and 13 targets. Volume is king in fantasy football, and even with Will Fuller returning to the lineup last week against the Raiders, Waddle had 12 receptions for 58 yards. This week they face the Colts, who are in a severe slump right now. Waddle should be in for a heavy target total that could lead him to being a top-12 receiver for the week.

Must Start: Odell Beckham Jr. — Cleveland Browns at Minnesota Vikings

Vintage Beckham returned against the Bears in Week 3, with five receptions on nine targets for 77 yards. This week’s game against Minnesota has one of the highest point totals of the week (51 or 51.5, depending on the book). If this is a higher-scoring game, then both teams will be throwing the ball, and with the uncertainty at the wide receiver position for the Browns, Beckham is bound to be peppered with targets.

Must Start: Chase Claypool — Pittsburgh Steelers at Green Bay Packers

The Steelers are likely to be without Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster against the Packers. While Ben Roethlisberger looked awful last week, he is still good enough to force-feed the ball to Claypool. Claypool saw 15 targets for nine receptions and 96 yards against the Bengals. As long as one of Johnson or Smith-Schuster are out, fire up Claypool with confidence.

Must Sit: Allen Robinson — Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions

At this point it is impossible to start Robinson. Even against a bad Lions defense, it is hard to see the Bears passing attack working. The starting quarterback is not known yet, as Matt Nagy continues to state that Andy Dalton will be the starter if healthy. He also talked about Nick Foles as the potential starter. Combine the quarterback confusion with Robinson’s play up to this point, and he is a must-sit.

Must Sit: Robert Woods — Los Angeles Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals

While looking to acquire Woods on the cheap is an ideal move, playing him this week is the opposite. Cooper Kupp has been one of the best wide receivers in all of fantasy, which has left Woods on the outside looking in (WR49 in half-PPR). Aside from his bailout touchdown in Week 1 against the Bears, Woods has been a disaster for fantasy teams. This matchup against the Cardinals should be high scoring, but it is likely that Kupp will be the primary beneficiary yet again.

Must Sit: Marquez Callaway — New Orleans Saints vs. New York Giants

Callaway was one of the most-hyped players of the offseason. Following an excellent preseason, he shot up the draft boards, and early on he did not live up to the hype. But in Week 3 against the Patriots, he went caught four of his five targets for 41 yards and finally found the end zone. The Saints offense has been inconsistent all year, so sitting Callaway is the best option — despite a seemingly plus-matchup against the Giants — until Jameis Winston shows he can support Callaway.
