Looking towards Week 7 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will look into the matchups to discern the positive or negative impact a given matchup will have on tight ends. Below is the Week 7 start ’em sit ’em tight ends based on their matchups.

Week 7 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends

Must Start: Ricky Seals-Jones — Washington Football Team at Green Bay Packers

Last week I called for a Ricky Seals-Jones start against the Chiefs and it paid off. He had four catches on six targets for 58 yards and a touchdown in that game. Even with the Washington Football Team getting blown out, Seals-Jones still found his way into the end zone. This week against the Packers we can see a similar stat line.

Must Start: Mike Gesicki — Miami Dolphins vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Gesicki train appears to have no breaks, whether it is Tua Tagovailoa or Jacoby Brissett. In the last four games, he has failed to eclipse 13 half-PPR points just once. Last week against the Jaguars, he had eight receptions on nine targets for 115 yards. While Jaylen Waddle is the clear No. 1 option in this offense Gesicki should not be far behind in targets. The Falcons defense ranks 30th against the pass via DVOA. Expect another solid showing from Gesicki.

Must Start: Dallas Goedert — Philadelphia Eagles at Las Vegas Raiders

Without Zach Ertz, we need to universally be all in on Dallas Goedert. Recently when Ertz was injured, we always saw Goedert step up into a stronger role and perform. On the season the Raiders rank 17th against the pass via DVOA, which is just about the middle of the pack. Jalen Hurts has proven to target the tight end week in and week out so let’s ride with Goedert against the Raiders.

Must Sit: Cole Kmet — Chicago Bears at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Since Jimmy Graham was placed on the COVID-19 list tons of people will flock to Kmet. He has been a non-factor in this Bears offense as he sits as TE37 in half-PPR. His best game on the season came with Andy Dalton all the way in Week 1 so it is quite evident that Justin Fields does not favor the use of a tight end. Last week against the Bears, Kmet had four receptions on five targets for 49 yards. Until we see some consistency, Kmet is best left on the bench.

Must Sit: Robert Tonyan — Green Bay Packers at Washington Football Team

Every week people continue to talk themselves into Tonyan. While Tonyan was scoring touchdowns left and right last season, he has just one touchdown this season. With all of his value linked to his touchdowns and him not scoring touchdowns just sit him down. Even in a smash spot against a terrible Washington defense let him rot on the bench. At this point, you can just cut him.
