Week 8 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Wide Receivers: Robert Woods & Tyler Lockett

Looking towards Week 8 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will examine all of the matchups and discern the positive or negative impact that a given matchup will have on the wide receivers. Below is the best fantasy football start ’em sit ’em options for Week 8 NFL matchups.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Wide Receivers

Must Start: Emmanuel Sanders — Bills vs. Dolphins

Sanders is the WR23 in half PPR. On the season he has had at least six targets in five out of the last six games. With Cole Beasley taking the backseat, Sanders is clearly the No. 2 wide receiver on the team. The Bills are also going to be without Dawson Knox, which should also give more opportunity for Sanders. In Sanders last game he had five receptions on eight targets for 91 yards and a touchdown against the Titans. This week he faces a Dolphins defense that ranks 26th in pass DVOA. Expect another strong showing from Sanders.

Must Start: Courtland Sutton — Broncos vs. Washington

Many will be nervous for Sutton based upon the return of Jerry Jeudy. There should be no reason to worry, as Sutton has clearly earned a strong role with Teddy Bridgewater. Last week against the Browns Sutton had a down game, with five receptions for 68 yards. This week he gets a much softer matchup against the 29th-ranked pass defense by DVOA.

Must Start: Robert Woods – Rams at Texans

Despite a tough start to the season, Woods has been playing well recently. While Cooper Kupp has been getting all the hype, people seem to be sleeping on Woods. Last week against the Lions he had six receptions for 70 yards. The Rams offense will continue to look explosive this week against the Texans.

Must Sit: Odell Beckham Jr. — Browns vs. Steelers

Despite ranking 75th in half-PPR points per game, Beckham is still starting in a lot of leagues. His name value is no longer relevant in 2021. Whether the quarterback is Case Keenum or Baker Mayfield does not even seem to matter. Beckham has topped 10 points just twice this season, and there is no promise of him returning to his former glory.

Must Sit: Tyler Lockett — Seahawks vs. Jaguars

Early in the season Lockett had two 20-point performances. But since then he has been dreadful for fantasy. Now with Geno Smith at the helm instead of Russell Wilson, things have gotten substantially worse. Last week against the Saints he saw just three targets on two receptions for 12 yards. Even with the Jaguars ranking 32nd in pass DVOA, Lockett is a fade for the foreseeable future, at least until Wilson comes back.

Must Sit: Corey Davis — Jets vs. Bengals

It finally felt like everything was finally going to go Davis’ way after Jamison Crowder returned. The offense looked like it was going to start working, but all of that hope has been killed by the Zach Wilson injury. Even though Wilson has not looked great in his rookie season, he was occasionally productive. With Mike White under center, that upside has gone away. Last week against the Patriots Davis had four receptions on six targets for 47 yards and a touchdown.
