Top 3 Week 6 Defense Rankings & D/ST Streaming Options | Fantasy Football 2021

Week 6 brings the first round of byes for the 2021 season. Two of the four defenses/special teams (D/ST) that are on a bye (49ers and Saints) are rostered in more than 60% of ESPN leagues, so some fantasy managers might need to pursue a streaming option. If you are in that boat, or have already been streaming the defense position, here are some D/ST options to consider adding that are still available in the majority of leagues. Checking the fantasy football rankings and matchups is the best way to pinpoint a solid pickup. Also, check out the Awesemo projections to see what is projected for all of the teams that will be in action and where they are in the Week 6 defense Rankings.

Week 6 Fantasy Football Streaming Defense Options

Cincinnati Bengals (83% available)

The Bengals suffered a wild overtime loss to the Packers in Week 5 in which neither team’s kicker seemed to want to win the game. They allowed a total of 25 points, which were the most that they have given up in a game this season. They have only allowed an average of 20 points per game, which is tied for the seventh fewest in the NFL. One of their areas of success has been putting pressure on the opposing quarterback, generating 13 sacks. That ties them for the ninth most in the league.

Up next for the Bengals is a favorable matchup against the Lions, who suffered yet another soul-crushing loss last week. Just when it looked like they were going to pull off an upset over the Vikings, they allowed a field goal as time expired to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. The Lions have scored 17 points or fewer in four straight games and could continue to struggle offensively given their lack of talent at wide receiver.

Miami Dolphins (83% available)

It has been all downhill for the Dolphins since they defeated the Patriots in Week 1. They have lost four straight, allowing at least 31 points in three of those games. They have faced some tough offenses, though, including the Bills and the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers torched them for 45 points in Week 5, which included Tom Brady throwing five touchdowns.

The good news for the Dolphins is that the schedule works in their favor for Week 6. They will take on the Jaguars in London, so it is a road game for both teams. The Jaguars have been a mess under Urban Meyer, starting out 0-5 with a negative-59-point differential. They have not scored more than 21 points in a game, and rookie quarterback Trevor Lawrence has thrown eight interceptions. If there was ever a week to take a chance on the Dolphins, this is it.

Indianapolis Colts (56% available)

The schedule has not done the Colts any favors in the early going. They have already had to play the Seahawks, Rams, Titans and Ravens, each of which has dangerous offensive weapons. After a strong first half against the Ravens on Monday Night Football, they collapsed in the second half and overtime, allowing Lamar Jackson to record over 500 total yards and four touchdowns.

Week 6 could bring a change in fortunes for the Colts defense in a matchup at home against the Texans. With Davis Mills under center, the Texans have scored 9 points or fewer in two of their last three games. He did have a strong performance against the Patriots in Week 5, but he still only has six touchdowns to go along with his six interceptions. Add in the fact that he has been sacked 10 times over the last three games, and the Colts could provide a boost for fantasy managers in need.
