Top 3 Week 8 Defense Rankings & D/ST Streaming Options | Fantasy Football 2021

Thankfully, only two teams will be on a bye in Week 8, which opens up the fantasy football defense and D/ST rankings this week. After six teams were on a bye in Week 7, this will provide some much-needed relief for fantasy managers. While there should not be as many holes to plug on rosters, you could still need some help with your defense/special teams (D/ST) spot. If that is the case, here are three to consider adding who are still available in the majority of leagues. Also, check out the Awesemo projections to see the Week 8 defense rankings for all of the teams that will be in action.

Week 8 Fantasy Football Streaming D/ST Rankings

Cincinnati Bengals (77% available)

The Bengals have had one of the better defenses in the league, but a Week 7 matchup against the Ravens resulted in them being dropped in a lot of fantasy leagues. They responded, though, holding the Ravens to 17 points in a lopsided win. They have now allowed an average of 18.3 points per game, which is the fifth fewest in the NFL.

While they were one of the most dropped D/ST heading into Week 7, expect the Bengals to be the most added for Week 8. They have a great matchup against the Jets, who have only averaged 13.3 points per game. New York will also be without Zach Wilson (knee), which means either Mike White or the newly acquired Joe Flacco will start. While playing in relief of Wilson on Sunday, White threw for 202 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. That was the first time that he attempted a pass in the NFL. This game could get ugly in a hurry for the Jets, regardless of who starts.

Philadelphia Eagles (94% available)

Week 7 was not pretty for the Eagles. After scoring a touchdown to take a 7-0 lead in the first quarter, they then let the Raiders score 30 unanswered points. They scored a couple of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to make the final score appear closer than the game actually was. The Eagles’ problem this season has been their inability to stop the run, which has resulted in them allowing the fourth-most yards rushing per game.

As ugly as things were last week, the Eagles defense has an opportunity to bounce back in a big way against the Lions. They still have yet to win a game and have scored 19 points or fewer in each of their last six games. Jared Goff has four interceptions and just one touchdown pass over their last three games, so the Eagles could force a turnover or two in this matchup, as well.

Atlanta Falcons (81% available)

The Falcons defense was not good Sunday, allowing 28 points to the Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa exploded in the second half, finishing with four touchdowns passing. In addition to that meltdown on defense, the Falcons have allowed at least 30 points in a game three times. They were only rostered in 4% of leagues prior to Week 7, so they were basically a streaming option that did not work out.

Could they redeem themselves and be a viable streamer in Week 8? They certainly have the matchup for it against the Panthers, who are a mess at quarterback. The wheels have come off for Sam Darnold, who has seven interceptions over his last four games. He was pulled for P.J. Walker on Sunday against the Giants, but he also struggled, completing just 3 of 14 pass attempts for 33 yards. Darnold is expected to start this game, but the Panthers could continue to struggle to score with Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) on IR.
