Working the Waiver Wire: Top Week 7 Pickups including Boston Scott and Justin Jackson

We are going to be missing some key names across the fantasy football landscape in Week 7 with the Ravens, Vikings, Colts and Dolphins all on a bye. Add that to injuries suffered across the league in Week 6, and you might need some reinforcements for your roster. Here are some players to consider targeting who are still available on the waiver wire in the majority of Yahoo leagues.

Fantasy Football: Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickups

Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles (87% available)

The Eagles just can’t catch a break when it comes to injuries. They’ve been decimated at wide receiver this season, and now running back Miles Sanders (knee) is set to miss at least Week 7 against the Giants and potentially longer. That sets up Scott to have an increased workload moving forward. He was set to be their featured back in Week 1 against Washington, but he went down with an injury of his own, leaving him with only nine carries for 35 yards and two catches for 19 yards. He should be involved in both the running game and the passing attack, making him the top waiver wire target this week.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 1 (25% – 30% of FAAB budget)

Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers (51% available)

In a bit of a surprise move, Diontae Johnson (back) was once again out Sunday against the Browns. That set up Claypool with an expanded role once again, and he didn’t disappoint, catching all four of his targets for 74 yards. He also had two carries for seven yards and a touchdown. The Steelers didn’t need to throw a lot in this game after racing out to a big lead early, but it’s noteworthy that Claypool had as many targets as JuJu Smith-Schuster. The return of Johnson could eventually limit Claypool’s upside, but he’s played so well in Johnson’s absence that he’s likely earned himself an expanded target share moving forward.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 2 (20% – 25% of FAAB budget)

Justin Jackson, Los Angeles Chargers (54% available)

Probably the only reason why Jackson is still available in this many leagues is because the Chargers were on a bye last week. In their first game without Austin Ekeler (hamstring), Jackson outperformed Joshua Kelley when he had 15 carries for 71 yards and five catches for 23 yards against the Saints. Now he’ll face one of the worst defenses in the league in the Jaguars in Week 7, so don’t hesitate to add him if you still can.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 3 (20% – 25% of FAAB budget)

Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers (55% available)

Again, the Chargers being on a bye last week is probably the only reason why Williams is still eligible for this list. He’s coming off of a monster performance in which he caught five of eight targets for 109 yards and two touchdowns. The only question with Williams has been his health considering his talent is off the charts. With Justin Herbert playing well and opening up the passing attack, Williams could be a valuable addition for the remainder of the season.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 4 (15% – 20% of FAAB budget)

Tim Patrick, Denver Broncos (82% available)

The Broncos won a defensive slug fest against the Patriots on Sunday 18-12. They really didn’t get much going offensively considering kicker Brandon McManus accounted for all 18 of their points. With that being said, Patrick was by far their most productive wide receiver, catching four of eight targets for 101 yards. He’s received at least five targets in four of five games this season and has a total of 15 targets across their last two contests. The absences of Noah Fant (ankle) and K.J. Hamler (hamstring) certainly hasn’t hurt Patrick’s cause, but he played so well with them on the sidelines that he should still see a significant number of targets even when they do return.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 5 (10% – 15% of FAAB budget)

Travis Fulgham, Philadelphia Eagles (69% available)

If there is a bright side to all of the injuries at wide receiver for the Eagles, it’s been the emergence of Fulgham. He had a monster game against an excellent Steelers defense in Week 5, catching 10 of 13 targets for 152 yards and a touchdown. He followed that up with six catches on 10 targets for 75 yards and a touchdown against another good defensive team in the Ravens on Sunday. The Eagles could get DeSean Jackson (hamstring) back for Thursday’s matchup with the Giants, but Zach Ertz (ankle) is now going to join Sanders on the sidelines. Fulgham should be busy enough to have the potential to continue his recent run of success.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 6 (10% of FAAB budget)

Keelan Cole, Jacksonville Jaguars (71% available)

Although the Jaguars have a few intriguing wide receiver options, Cole hasn’t seen a lack of targets. He’s garnered at least five of them in every game this season. The problem was that heading into Week 6, he hadn’t recorded more than 58 receiving yards in any of his five games. All that changed in a favorable matchup against the Lions on Sunday when he caught six of nine targets for 143 yards. The Jaguars have a bad defense, which will likely force them to throw a lot as they try to play catchup in games. His yardage totals might not always jump off the page, but Cole should still receive enough targets to be in the consideration for being a WR3 in most weeks.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 7 (5% of FAAB budget)

Logan Thomas, Washington Football Team (85% available)

In one of the least appealing matchups of Week 6, Washington fell by one point to the Giants. They had a chance to tie the game with an extra point in the final minutes but decided to try a 2-point conversion that ultimately failed. Kyle Allen finished with two touchdown passes, one of which was an excellent throw to Thomas in the end zone. Thomas posted three catches for 42 yards and that score and has received at least four targets in all six games this season. Facing a Cowboys defense that can’t seem to stop anyone makes Thomas an appealing option if you need help at tight end.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 8 (3% – 5% of FAAB budget)

Frank Gore, New York Jets (69% available)

Is Gore an exciting add? No. However, it’s difficult to argue with the volume of work that he’s likely to receive moving forward now that Le’Veon Bell is no longer with the team. In what was an embarrassing shutout loss to the Dolphins, Gore finished with 11 carries for 46 yards and four catches on four targets for an additional 24 yards. The Jets have said that they plan to get La’Mical Perine more involved, but the coaching staff clearly has an affinity for Gore, so he could be worth a look in deeper leagues.

Week 7 Waiver Wire Priority: 9 (3% – 5% of FAAB budget)
