NFL Conference Championship Playoffs Fantasy Football Injury Report & NFL News Updates Today

With all of the craziness surrounding the Conference Championship Round of the NFL playoffs, fantasy players need to look into the NFL injury report and break down who to trust. Below is start/sit advice for DFS lineups based on injury news and notes.

NFL Conference Championship Round Fantasy Football Injury News

Van Jefferson – WR – Los Angeles Rams

Jefferson is dealing with a knee injury, but it appears that he will be good to go for this Sunday’s action against the 49ers. Throughout the first two rounds of the playoffs, Jefferson has been relatively quiet, posting just four targets and three catches for 60 yards in the playoffs. Meanwhile, his teammates Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. have been having solid performances. While that is important to note, there is still always the upside of a huge splash game from Jefferson, as he is a deep threat. Tackle Andrew Whitworth appears to be good to go in this game as well.

Trent Williams – LT – San Francisco 49ers

Williams did not practice Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and is currently listed as questionable. It was reported earlier in the week that Williams played through the ankle injury that is hampering him now in their matchup last week against the Packers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan showed confidence in Williams playing, but with all of these missed practices, it appears to be far from a lock. If he misses, that could certainly hurt the upside of all 49ers skill players.

Elijah Mitchell – RB – San Francisco 49ers

Mitchell has been dealing with a knee issue for what feels like months at this point. He did not practice on Wednesday and was practicing in a limited fashion on Thursday. While for most players this may appear to be a big red flag for Mitchell this is the new normal. That new normal being him missing practice and then looking like the knee injury was never even there when he plays. Last week against the Packers he had 17 rushes for 53 yards and three receptions for 18 yards. The team should continue to look towards the running game this week making Mitchell the most reliable running back on this DFS slate.

Jimmy Garoppolo – QB – San Francisco 49ers

Garoppolo has been dealing with a thumb and shoulder injury for the last few games. This week the team removed the shoulder injury from the practice report meaning that hopefully his shoulder is no longer hampering him. Even with the thumb injury still hampering him, it seems unlikely that your expectations should be much higher for him. He has yet to throw a single touchdown in this playoff run yet the team continues to win games.

Deebo Samuel – WR – San Francisco 49ers

There was some worry surrounding Samuel following him looking to be banged up on the final offensive play against the Packers last week, he was not listed on the injury report and has been a full participant in practice. He has cooled off a bit in terms of performance compared to the regular season but with that said he is still the main option on the 49ers.

Darrel Williams – RB – Kansas City Chiefs

With the emergence of Jerick McKinnon in this offense, the likely return of Williams this week will be subtle. It is entirely possible that Williams is inserted into an excellent role in this offense but the chances of that are relatively low. Besides Williams, the only other injury report of note on the Chiefs is safety Tyrann Mathieu who appears to be suiting up on Sunday against the Bengals. For the Bengals, there is not a single player of note on the injury report to discuss.
