Start ’em, Sit ’em: NFL Week 10 Fantasy Football Lineup Picks

We won’t have as many bad defenses to target in Week 10 with the Falcons, Cowboys and Jets all on a bye. The Chiefs are also off this week, which will likely leave many fantasy football managers scrambling for replacements. Let’s dig into the schedule and discuss some players to consider while making your start ‘em sit ‘em decisions.

NFL Start ’em Sit ’em: Week 10 Fantasy Football Lineup Picks

Quarterback: Start ‘Em

Jared Goff, LAR (vs. SEA)

Jared Goff has been an inconsistent option this season, which has made him risky to start. Across the Rams first eight games, he’s thrown for at least 300 yards three times, but he’s also thrown for 220 yards or fewer three times. With that being said, this has the makings of one of his better performances of the season, with the Seahawks allowing a league-high 362.1 passing yards per contest. To put how bad they have been into perspective, the next-worst team is the Falcons, who have allowed 310.3 passing yards per game.

Quarterback: Sit ‘Em

Cam Newton, NE (vs. BAL)

Cam Newton hasn’t done much in the passing game this season, throwing for fewer than 200 yards in five of his seven games. He also hasn’t thrown a touchdown pass since Week 3. His saving grace has been his ability to contribute with his legs, totaling 314 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns. This is a rough matchup given that the Ravens have only allowed six rushing touchdowns all season, so it might be best to keep Newton out of your lineup.

Running Back: Start ‘Em

Antonio Gibson, WAS (at DET)

The presence of J.D. McKissic has prevented Antonio Gibson from receiving a heavy workload. For example. McKissic had three carries and nine receptions against the Giants last week, while Gibson had only six carries and three receptions. Even with his somewhat inconsistent workload, Gibson still has five rushing touchdowns for the season. This might be a matchup that works in his favor given that the Lions have allowed the third-most rushing yards per game.

Running Back: Sit ‘Em

Devonta Freeman, NYG (vs. PHI)

Signs were pointing to Devonta Freeman making his return for the Giants after sitting out the last two games with an ankle injury, but he reportedly had a minor aggravation of the injury during Thursday’s practice. He’s still targeting a return this week, but Thursday’s development is concerning. Wayne Gallman has played well in his absence, so there is no need to push Freeman back into a heavy workload if he’s not completely healthy. Add in the fact that Freeman only has one touchdown through five games, and it’s difficult to have much faith in him providing significant production, even if he is able to take the field.

Wide Receiver: Start ‘Em

Jalen Reagor, PHI (at NYG)

The Giants adding cornerback James Bradberry to their defense has been one of the most underrated moves of the offseason. He’s been a shutdown cornerback for them despite taking on the opposing team’s best wide receiver on a weekly basis. However, outside of Bradberry, the Giants don’t have much talent at cornerback. With the expectation that Bradberry will spend most of his time covering Travis Fulgham, Jalen Reagor could be productive against the rest of the Giants secondary.

Wide Receiver: Sit ‘Em

Darius Slayton, NYG (vs. PHI)

When we last saw the Giants take the field against the Eagles, Darius Slay helped hold Darius Slayton to two catches on three targets for 23 yards. Slayton has been slumping with the Giants’ offense struggling to score, catching two or fewer passes in three of the last four games. It’s also noteworthy that Sterling Shepard returned from injury to record 20 catches over the last three games. With Daniel Jones focusing on getting Shepard the ball and Slayton possibly being shadowed by Slay again, another muted stat line could be in the cards.

Tight End: Start ‘Em

Austin Hooper, CLE (vs. HOU)

The Browns are slated to get some reinforcements for their offense coming off of their bye week. Not only could Nick Chubb (knee) be activated from IR, but Austin Hooper is also expected to make his return after missing two games because of an appendectomy. Hooper already recorded 23 targets across his previous three games and could see even more targets come his way over the remainder of the season with Odell Beckham (knee) out. It should also help Hooper’s cause in Week 10 that the Texans have allowed the 10th-most passing yards per game.

Tight End: Sit ‘Em

Hunter Henry, LAC (at MIA)

Yes, the Chargers’ offense has become much more dangerous with Justin Herbert under center. However, that hasn’t resulted in a boost in production from Hunter Henry. He hasn’t finished with more than 39 receiving yards in a game since Week 3, and he only has one touchdown reception all season. The Dolphins have been extremely tough at defending tight ends this season, allowing just 299 yards and two touchdowns to the position, so we could be looking at another quiet afternoon from Henry.
