The return of the NFL also means that we have DFS lineups to pour over. Let’s discuss three players that have varying NFL DFS salaries on DraftKings and FanDuel to make note of as you work your way through the options.

NFL DFS Picks: Week 1 DraftKings + FanDuel Salary Discrepancies

NFL DFS Pick: Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco 49ers (DraftKings: $5,800, FanDuel: $7,400)

In his first full season as a starting quarterback, Garoppolo helped lead the 49ers to the Super Bowl. The problem from a fantasy perspective is that he was part of a run-heavy offense. He only averaged 248.6 passing yards per game on his way to 3,978 passing yards. He also threw 13 interceptions to go along with his 27 touchdown passes.

The good news is that Garoppolo has a favorable matchup in Week 1 against the Cardinals. He crushed them last season, throwing for a combined 741 yards, eight touchdowns and two interceptions in two meetings. They didn’t just struggle against him either since they allowed the second-most passing yards per game in the league. The bad news for Garoppolo is that Deebo Samuel (foot) will be out and Brandon Aiyuk is also battling an injury. If he’s unable to take the field as well, Garoppolo won’t have many weapons in the passing game outside of George Kittle. His salary is the 10th-highest among quarterbacks on FanDuel, but he checks in tied for 15th highest on DraftKings, which might be the better site to deploy him on in your NFL DFS lineups.

NFL DFS Pick: James White, New England Patriots (DraftKings: $6,000, FanDuel: $5,300)

The one constant in the Patriots’ backfield the last four seasons has been White. However, his contributions don’t come on the ground as much as they do in the passing game. He’s never rushed for more than 425 yards in a season, and he has only six rushing touchdowns across that four-year stretch. However, he does his damage in the passing game. He’s received at least 95 targets in back-to-back seasons, totaling 159 receptions for 1,396 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Things will be different for the Patriots with Tom Brady no longer their quarterback. Cam Newton will likely start in Week 1 and he’s been known more for his running prowess than for his contributions through the air. Still, another excellent pass-catching running back, Christian McCaffrey, thrived when Newton was under center for the Panthers. White should still be busy, making him a viable DFS target against the Dolphins. His salary ranks 13th highest among running backs on DraftKings, but he’s only the 28th-most expensive on FanDuel. A lot of that likely has to do with the scoring differences considering DraftKings is full PPR and FanDuel is half-PPR. Get him in your FanDuel NFL DFS lineups.

NFL DFS Pick: Kenny Golladay, Detroit Lions (DraftKings: $6,200, FanDuel: $7,300)

Golladay was facing an uphill battle for much of 2019 with Matthew Stafford only playing half the season because of injuries. Still, Golladay had a very productive campaign with 65 receptions, 1,190 receiving yards and a whopping 11 touchdown receptions. As the clear top pass-catching option on the team, he received 116 targets after having 119 passes thrown his way in 2018.

Golladay will have Stafford back for Week 1, which provides an immediate boost for his value. The Lions also didn’t make any significant additions at wide receiver during the offseason, so expect Golladay to lead the team in targets. Unfortunately for his sake, the season opener brings a matchup against the Bears, who allowed the ninth-fewest passing yards per game last season. His salary is the seventh highest among wide receivers on FanDuel, checking in just behind Mike Evans ($7,500). Players with a lower salary than Golladay’s who are arguably just as appealing include Allen Robinson ($7,200), D.J. Moore ($7,100) and Keenan Allen ($7,000), so it might be easier to fork over Golladay’s salary on DraftKings than it is on FanDuel.
