Week 9 Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Tight Ends: C.J. Uzomah& Hunter Henry

Looking towards Week 9 of the NFL fantasy football season, we will look into the matchups to discern the positive or negative impact a given matchup will have on tight ends. Below is the Week 9 start ’em sit ’em tight ends based on their matchups.

Week 9 Fantasy Football Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends

Must Start: Hunter Henry — New England Patriots at Carolina Panthers

Henry is one of the most fascinating tight ends to follow in fantasy football. So much of his value derives from scoring touchdowns but at the same time in his last five games he has scored a touchdown in four of them. While some may say this is unsustainable Henry has proved exactly why that is not the case. Last week he had just one reception on three targets for 33 yards against the Chargers. With that said he should still be a reliable starter going forward and is a player that we should be starting this week.

Must Start: C.J. Uzomah — Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns

Last week the whole world believed in C.J. Uzomah, it all made sense the guy has been on fire and he was playing the Jets. What could go wrong? Just about everything as the Bengals lost that game and Uzomah had a down game. Having four receptions on 4 targets for 33 yards. While those numbers are not ideal we have seen Uzomah put up big numbers multiple times on the season having two different games with two total touchdowns. The Browns are also not the best at stopping tight ends so we should see a strong bounce-back game out of Uzomah.

Must Start: Zach Ertz — Arizona Cardinals at San Francisco 49ers

With Kyler Murray’s health very much up in the air, many will be nervous to fire up Zach Ertz this week. Even with the potential of Colt McCoy starting for the team we should still look Ertz’s way. In his two games as a Cardinal he has nine targets for seven receptions, 108 yards, and a touchdown. The 49ers defense has also allowed a touchdown in each of the last two games to a tight end.

Must Sit: Jared Cook — Los Angeles Chargers at Philidelphia Eagles

Cook is certainly in a solid situation to succeed the issue is that his success is inconsistent. There is also the looming Donald Parham effect who could steal some valuable targets. This has been the case twice in the last three games as he has scored a touchdown in those games. Last week we saw Cook have two receptions on five targets for 25 yards. It is not impossible for Cook to pay off this week but there are much better options available.

Must Sit: Tommy Sweeney — Buffalo Bills at Jacksonville Jaguars

Tons of people talked themselves into Sweeney last week and that was not the correct option. Last week against the Dolphins he had three receptions on four targets for 30 yards. Dawson Knox was outstanding when healthy this season but this same love for the tight end position does not appear to be there without him.
