DraftKings and FanDuel Spotlight Hitters & Stacks, Monday 8/20

The following Spotlight Stacks & Hitters were selected by Awesemo.com’s Director of Content Josh Engleman.

Brewers (#1 DraftKings / #1 FanDuel)

  • Christian Yelich
  • Mike Moustakas
  • Travis Shaw
  • Ryan Braun

Highest implied total? Check. Home Bailey on the hill for the Reds? Check. A bunch of lefties (plus Ryan Braun)? Check! This is as good of a spot as the Brewers will find all year. There’s just so much power in Milwaukee’s lineup. Obviously, the platoon advantage is a big deal, so grab the lefties when you can. Even though Eric Thames is projected to hit 7th, I’ll still happily use him. Lorenzo Cain looks good if he’s hitting in the 2-hole. Honestly, I’ll use the entire lineup, because the potential is simply too high to avoid anyone.

Twins (#2 DraftKings / #2 FanDuel)

  • Eddie Rosario
  • Miguel Sano
  • Jorge Polanco
  • Max Kepler

This is weird. The Twins have basically the same scenario as the Brewers. Lucas Giolito is basically the younger version of Homer Bailey. Focus first on the lefties, then grab the guys with power. It’s a standard recipe but it works. I have no problems with Joe Mauer in the lead-off spot. I’ll use him more on FanDuel, just because of his price. If you’re trying to save money with Minnesota, you can swap out Kepler for Jake Cave. Mitch Garver looks like a good catcher option. He should have some opportunities with runners on. I’m not really looking at Tyler Austin if he’s hitting 9th, but he does hit for big time power, so you can make a case if you want to get super different.

Dodgers (#4 DraftKings / #3 FanDuel)

  • Manny Machado
  • Brian Dozier
  • Justin Turner
  • Matt Kemp

Surprise, surprise. The Dodgers are one of my top stacks. This time, the stack is a bit more focused. With LHP Austin Gomber on the hill for the Cardinals, I want to prioritize the right handed bats at the top of the order. I”m generally avoiding Cody Bellinger, although he’ll sneak in a line or two. Yasmani Grandal looks OK for DraftKings. I probably have him more than his individual value says I should, but that’s what happens when you have a 5-man stack. I have some respect for Gomber, but he’ll be getting way too many quality righty bats. Eventually, the dam will break.
