DraftKings and FanDuel Spotlight Hitters & Stacks, Saturday 7/21

Jake Hari

Awesemo's Free MLB DFS picks + MLB DFS stacks, hitters and strategy daily for each slate on DraftKings, FanDuel and Yahoo Fantasy | 9/30/20

The following Spotlight Hitters & Stacks were selected by writer Jake Hari. For more analysis on the slate, check out Awesemo’s Rankings and Ownership Projections.

Indians vs. Bartolo Colon

This is a fairly obvious stack, as the Indians have an implied total near 6 runs tonight against 45 year-old Bartolo Colon, who needs to his his spots perfect to be effective. The top-3 hitters on the Indians are some of my favorite plays on the entire slate, but they’ll come with hefty ownership because of the scorching hot weather in Texas (over 105 degrees at game time). After those 3 it drops off significantly, but I’ll be rolling out the full stack with Yonder Alonso, Jason Kipnis, and and Edwin Encarnacion.

Twins vs. Jake Junis

Junis will get a steady dose of left-handed bats tonight against the Twins which is a recipe for disaster, as he’s been lit up by lefties this year, allowing 41.3% hard-contact, 45% fly balls, and a 5.24 xFIP with just a 17.2% K-rate. Eddie Rosario jumps out to me as the best Twins one-off, and one of my favorite one-offs on the entire slate, but Jorge Polanco, Max Kepler, and Eduardo Escobar all make for exceptional plays in a stack. For a 5.1 run total, many of the Twins seem underpriced, making them my favorite value stack for tonight’s slate, which is one where I’d like to pay up for at least one of my pitchers.

Dodgers vs. Chase Anderson

Anderson looks to have pretty even splits this year overall, but if this roof is open in Milwaukee, this is a very favorable spot for the lefties especially. We’re seeing 15+ MPH winds out to right field here, which lines up well for guys like Joc Pederson, Cody Bellinger, Yasmani Grandal and my personal favorite, Max Muncy. Anderson is allowing almost 36% hard-contact to lefties while striking them out at just a 19% rate, and when we look at what the Dodgers have done against righties over the last month (.220 ISO, .249 OBP, 128 wRC+), it’s hard not to love them here. It’s not like Chase Anderson will get a breather when he faces the righties, either, as Manny Machado, Justin Turner, and Chris Taylor all hit RHP very well over the last year.
