Verlander has been back to his elite ways as of late, striking out at least 10 in 3 out of his last 4 starts while looking absolutely dominant. We should see the Angels roll out 4-5 lefties tonight, which is great news for a guy that strikes out almost 39% of them on the season with a minuscule 2.73 xFIP. Verlander is underpriced on DraftKings, and if you can make your lineups work a low-tier option you like as his pair, he’s a fantastic option in all formats.
If you can’t get up to Verlander, Corbin makes for a great consolation on DraftKings for a $1700 discount. The Rockies two best lefty-mashers, Trevor Story and Nolan Areando, are banged up coming into this game so this is an even better matchup than it would appear on paper, especially if Story is unable to play again. Corbin has been ridiculous over his last 11 starts, fanning at least 7 in all of them while going at least 6 innings in all but one. The Rockies have been less-than-stellar against lefties lately after starting out red-hot, posting a 23% K-rate, .161 ISO, and 77 wRC+ since August 1. I’m trying to get at least one of Corbin or Verlander in as many lineups as possible in GPPs.
Dodgers (vs. Jacob Nix)
Once again the Dodgers are in a phenomenal spot, the only difference is this one is against a righty instead of a lefty. Jacob Nix is simply not a good starter in this MLB, as he’s got a below-average chase-rate with a 6.4% swinging-strike rate in 7 starts, and he’s allowed at least 5 ER in 3 of his outings this year. Assuming the Dodgers roll out their “A” lineup with guys like Bellinger, Pederson, Muncy, and Grandal, they should be able to punish Nix and his 5.76 xFIP, 42.7% hard-contact, and 1.55 WHIP against LHH.
White Sox (vs. Jon Lester)
Jon Lester is coming off a great outing against the Reds, but I’m going right back to the stack against him tonight, as the issues against righties have not gone anywhere for him and he should see 9 of them tonight. On the year he’s rocking a 4.43 xFIP, 26.1% line drive rate, and just a 19.4% K-rate. The White Sox righties (especially at the top of the order) are dirt cheap, so they will help you unlock the expensive pitchers above while still providing upside. Anderson, Rondon, Garcia, Davidson, and Castillo are all solid values on DraftKings, so I’ll be using them as a way to get leverage off of the chalky Lester.

Andrew Benintendi (vs. Mike Clevinger)
