The following Spotlight Pitchers, Hitters & Stacks were selected by Awesemo.com writer Jake Hari. For more analysis on the slate, check out Awesemo’s Rankings and Ownership Projections.
Pitchers
Zack Greinke ($9,100 DK/$10,500 FD)
Greinke is the best pitcher on the slate, but may not even be the most owned play tonight as many will look to Stephen Strasburg as their ace on this tiny 3-gamer. He’s going to see a healthy dose of lefties against the Braves, and Greinke has been able to handle them well this year, creating almost 48% ground balls with a 1.06 WHIP and 22.6% K-rate. He’s my preferred option on this short slate ahead of Bieber and Strasburg.
Hitters & Stacks
Nationals (vs. Hendricks)
The Nats are my favorite stack on the night, as Kyle Hendricks is not a guy that will miss many bats and Washington has a lot of power that should play well in this humid weather. Hendricks has allowed 20 homers this year with a 23.7% Line Drive rate against righties, so righties that hit RHP well like Zimmerman and Turner are certainly in play, and the obvious guys like Harper and Soto are some of my favorites on the slate. It’s slim pickings on this slate, but the Nats will likely be much less-owned than the Indians, and I think they have about as good of a chance to pay off as Cleveland, making it a solid GPP pivot.
Cubs (vs. Strasburg)
Stacking against the 2nd-highest priced pitcher on a 3-game slate will usually make you different right away, but after 2 outings in which he put together good results, many will be back on the Stras Train, but I’ll be going against him. They’ll be in hitting in the humid weather as well, and if they can get to Strasburg, you’re not only gaining massive leverage on the field, but they can continue to pour in the runs on this Nationals bullpen, as they have the 5th-highest xFIP over the last month and are already taxed. Murphy, Rizzo, Schwarber, and Bryant will all be amongst my highest-owned plays on this slate.
