Trevor Bauer ($12,500 DK/$12,000 FD)
We’re not going out on much of a limb here, as Bauer has been a top-5 pitcher in the entire MLB and gets one of the softest matchups one can ask for tonight. The White Sox strike out tied for the most (25.7%) against righties this season, so Bauer could be looking at another double-digit strikeout performance similar to his 12K performance in June versus these Sox. The Cleveland ace is easily the top pitcher on the slate and his price isn’t all that restrictive, either.
Jack Flaherty ($9,600 DK/$8,000 FD)
Flaherty may look expensive at first glance, but he’s turned in 4 straight 7 strikeout outings with at least a 13% Swinging-Strike rate in all of them. The Royals, as we know, have been one of the best opponents for pitching as they have just a .136 ISO and 83 wRC+ against righties. Flaherty has shown the ability to miss bats in a big way, so even 6 projected lefties in the Royals lineup shouldn’t scare you, as he’s striking them out almost 23%.
Dan Straily ($6,600 DK/$6,800 FD)
Straily has been generally frustrating this year, posting some starts with lots of strikeouts while others have been filled with walks and hard hits. For $6,600 on DK pitching at home against a Mets team that has very few bats we’re worried about, Straily makes a lot of sense in GPPs. There are 6 righties in the projected New York lineup, and Straily has been much better against righties in terms of allowing baserunners and hard-contact (1.03 WHIP, 21.4% LD rate).
