The MLB DFS Deep Dive is back! This article is intended to give you an in-depth look at the top MLB DFS picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on the day’s fantasy baseball slate. MLB DFS Deep Dive: DraftKings + FanDuel Picks | Sept. 15

Top Pitchers

Julio Urias ($10,500 DraftKings/$10,300 FanDuel) faces the Diamondbacks, who have the lowest implied run total on the slate. Urias is having a strong season, striking out 26.7% of hitters and posting a 3.67 xFIP. He typically is not going to throw more than 100 pitches, but he should throw 90 to 100, assuming that he is pitching well, which is enough to make him a top option on tonight’s slate.

Tylor Megill ($9,200 DraftKings/$7,800 FanDuel) has a relatively difficult strikeout matchup against the Cardinals, but he should benefit from a predominantly right-handed lineup. St. Louis’s active roster has only struck out 22.2% of the time against right-handed pitching this season, but they also have a below average 90 wRC+ and .302 wOBA. Megill has been dominant against right-handed hitters this season, striking out 30.3% while allowing a .233 xwOBA and .103 xISO. He has had issues with lefties, allowing a .340 xwOBA and .256 xISO with a 24.1% strikeout rate, but the Cardinals’ projected lineup has just two left-handed hitters other than the pitcher.

Huascar Ynoa ($8,900 DraftKings/$8,400 FanDuel) has struck out 27.4% of hitters and has a 3.40 xFIP this season, and he has a favorable matchup against the Rockies. Colorado’s active roster has a 25.2% strikeout rate, 73 wRC+ and .281 wOBA outside of Coors Field this season. Ynoa’s combination of strikeout ability and matchup make him stand out as one of the top pitching options tonight.

Nestor Cortes ($7,900 DraftKings/$7,700 FanDuel) has struck out 22.2% of hitters in 10 starts this season. His 4.98 xFIP suggests that he could struggle going forward, but it is worth noting that he has held opposing hitters to a .280 xwOBA as a starter, so it is possible that he continues to have success. The matchup against the Orioles is relatively dangerous, as they have plenty of right-handed power in their lineup, but Cortes has been able to mitigate power this season, as righties have just a .139 xISO and .281 xwOBA (including his time in the bullpen). As a starter, right-handed hitters have a .296 xwOBA and .179 ISO.

Ranger Suarez ($7,300 DraftKings/$8,800 FanDuel) is pricy on FanDuel but stands out as the best value SP2 option on DraftKings. Suarez, like Cortes, began the year as a reliever before transitioning to the starting rotation. He has made a total of eight starts this season, striking out 23.4% of hitters and posting a 3.79 xFIP. He has yet to allow a home run as a starter and has an elevated 84.8% left-on-base rate in addition to a .287 BABIP, so his 1.67 ERA will not be intact much longer. Still, he is inexpensive in a strong matchup against the Cubs, who lead the league in strikeout rate since the trade deadline. Suarez has held opponents to a .261 xwOBA as a starter this season. Against right-handed hitters specifically, he has allowed a .282 xwOBA and .050 ISO.
