Los Angeles Dodgers at RHP Bryse Wilson – 5.4 implied runs

Keep in mind the playoffs are now at neutral sites with the Astros and Rays playing at Petco Park. The Braves and Dodgers are playing in Globe Life Park tonight.

Last night the Dodgers plated 11 in the first inning, which is the most runs in a single playoff inning ever. Grant Dayton (62 pitches), Huascar Ynoa (92), Jacob Webb (27) and Shane Greene (25), all saw significant work out of the bullpen. Everyone else will have had at least 48 hours since their last appearance and should be good to go.

Wilson was not on the Atlanta roster for the Wild Card round, but that was just a three-game series. He last pitched on Sept. 27, going 66 pitches. In his six appearances, two of which were starts, he has tallied 15.2 innings, and it would be a surprise for him to go more than 60-70 pitches. The Dodgers have an amazing offense that is well equipped to handle both right-handed hurlers and southpaws.

We should see Joc Pederson in the lineup, but just know he is a pinch-hit risk if a lefty comes in, and the Braves will have three available. As I have highlighted several times this post-season, the Dodgers are basically an All-Star team. Cody Bellinger (.279 ISO), Max Muncy (.281) , Corey Seager (.239) and Joc Pederson (.297) have astounding power numbers against righties since the beginning of the 2018 season. Chris Taylor, AJ Pollock and Justin Turner are not that far behind. Then, of course, we have 2018 AL MVP Mookie Betts at the top of the lineup.

I had some fun feedback from this next section, so I am going to include it again for the first time this series. We can all marvel at the collection of hitters assembled by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Mookie Betts: All-Star and Gold Gloves in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019. Silver Slugger in 2016, 2018 and 2019. 2018 AL MVP.

Corey Seager: 2016 Rookie of the Year, All-Star in 2016 and 2017 with MVP votes in 2016 and 2017.

Justin Turner: All-Star MVP in 2017 with regular season MVP votes in 2016, 2017 and 2018.

Max Muncy: All-Star MVP in 2019 with MVP votes in 2018 and 2019.

Cody Bellinger: 2017 Rookie of the Year, All-Star in 2017 and 2019 with the 2019 NL MVP, Gold Glove and Silver Slugger awards.

AJ Pollock: 2015 All-Star with a Gold Glove and MVP votes.

Joc Pederson: 2015 All-Star

Atlanta Braves vs. LHP Clayton Kershaw – 3.3 implied runs

It sounds like Kershaw will be taking the mound 48 hours after he was scratched from his Game 2 start with back spasms. Sadly the Braves will be without Adam Duvall (oblique). However, rookie Cristian Pache has performed admirably from the nine-hole with an extra base hit in each of his last two games as Duvall’s fill-in.

In this matchup we are looking more for one-off plays or duos depending on how adjacent our desired hitters are to each other in the batting order. The low 3.3 implied run total, as well as the cache of the Kershaw brand, should have gamers looking to avoid Atlanta batsmen. Keep in mind this is a two-game slate, and the leverage opportunity going directly against the most popular pitcher on the slate has merit.

A pairing of Ronald Acuna Jr. and Marcell Ozuna at the top of the order is the most viable since they should have a good chance at five at-bats. The heart of the order with Ozuna, Travis d’Arnaud and switch-hitting Ozzie Albies is the next grouping we can choose from. Finally, as mentioned above, Pache is in play as a near-minimum-price option across all sites. Working in him along with Dansby Swanson, Austin Riley or Johan Camargo will be an 0ff-the-board pairing, even with our 36-batter pool.
