Jock MKT MLB DFS Picks Tonight
Brandon Crawford — SS — San Francisco Giants
Crawford checks in as the top-ranked hitter in Awesemo’s expert projections tonight, in addition to landing in the top five of the value rankings. While he went hitless in last night’s game, Crawford went 5-for-8 with two doubles in the previous two games. The Rockies have certainly been a welcome opponent, as Crawford is slashing .368/.489/.737 with four home runs against them this season.
The Giants will look to hang double digits on the Rockies for the second straight night, and there is plenty of optimism attached to it. San Francisco received a +0.4 boost to its implied run total, which is tied for the highest increase on the slate. Plus, Colorado right-hander Chi-Chi Gonzalez will get the start in this one. Gonzalez has not made it past the fifth inning in each of his last five starts, and he has been teed off in all of them.
Salvador Perez — C — Kansas City Royals
When looking for a blue-chip stock, rarely does the catcher position come up. However, it is fair to say that none of those guys are as hot as Perez currently is. Over the last 15 games, he is slashing .315/.403/.815 with nine home runs and 23 RBIs. It is also worth mentioning that Perez will be taking aim at the onset against Orioles left-hander Alexander Wells, who is off to a rough start in his MLB career. Right-handed bats have particularly crushed Wells early on, slashing .393/.453/.643 in 63 plate appearances. Perez is hitting lefties much better than righties, with numbers that are nearly 50 points better in batting average and on-base percentage. In fact, 17 of Perez’s 41 home runs have come against lefties, and that is despite having 230 at-bats from that side of the plate.
Frank Schwindel — 1B — Chicago Cubs
Schwindel is already 13-for-26 with four home runs and 12 RBIs in September, and he has four straight multi-hit games and hits in eight straight. He is slashing .375/.479/.775 in 48 plate appearances against southpaws this season. Tonight’s matchup against Reds left-hander Wade Miley has an optimistic outlook as well. Miley is coming off his worst outing of the season, in which he allowed 12 hits (three home runs) and five runs over four innings. In fact, 12 of the 13 home runs allowed by Miley have been to right-handed hitters. The wheels have already fallen off for Cincinnati these last few weeks. Even after Miley exits the game, the Reds bullpen has shown they cannot be trusted either.
