Trevor Bauer: LAD vs MIA — DraftKings $11,000; FanDuel $11,000
Trevor Bauer is riding a hot hand into Saturday’s start against the Marlins, averaging 25.9 DraftKings and 44 FanDuel points with a 34.7% strikeout rate in eight outings. Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool gives Bauer a 38.1% chance to reach top-two pitcher status on DraftKings and a stellar 13.8% chance to be top pitcher on FanDuel. MLB DFS projections forecast Bauer among the top options available while projecting as a 10.7% top-two value on DraftKings and 1.7% top value pitcher on FanDuel. MLB daily fantasy ownership projections of 45.6% on DraftKings and 25.2% on FanDuel signify Bauer’s high volume of popularity, which will force us to take a stand in rostering him.
Likely to face six righties, two lefties and one switch-hitter from Miami, Bauer’s toasting right-handed batters to the tune of a 39.8% strikeout rate with a .136 average against. While Jesus Aguilar (second) has a .272 ISO against righties this season, and Adam Duvall (fourth) has a 107 wRC+ against the split since 2020, Bauer will have a task at keeping the fly ball damage down. Yet, the Marlins are hitting .232 as a team and have a 26% strikeout rate against right-handed pitching, which puts them at an 89 wRC+ this season. His price tag premium is a lofty ask while the mass volume of ownership appears nauseating, but Bauer’s ability to post astronomical fantasy totals is a rarity that must be accounted for.

Ian Anderson: ATL at MIL — DraftKings $9,200; FanDuel $8,600
The Braves are giving the nod to Ian Anderson on the road in Milwaukee. Anderson is averaging 17.5 DraftKings and 31.5 FanDuel points with a 26.4% strikeout rate in seven starts. Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool projects Anderson with a 17.2% chance of being a top-two pitcher on DraftKings with a 7.8% chance of reaching top pitcher on FanDuel, correlating seamlessly with our expert MLB DFS projections. Anderson’s moderate salary makes him an 8.8% top-two value on DraftKings while a 3.2% top value pitcher on FanDuel. MLB daily fantasy ownership projections of 16.2% on DraftKings and 7.8% on FanDuel suggest the moderately low volume of public interest behind him, making for a great roster pivot.
The Brewers are projected to roll out six lefties and three right-handed hitters against Anderson. He’s striking out both lefties and righties alike just over 26% of the time with an 0.92 HR/9. Brewers outfielder Lorenzo Cain (second) has returned from injury boasting a .244 ISO against right-handed pitchers, which could prove troublesome given Anderson’s increased hard contact surrendered compared to last season. The Brewers’ 26.6% strikeout rate, league-low .206 batting average, and 76 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this year lends plenty of upside to Anderson’s fantasy potential on Saturday, particularly at moderate ownership and affordability, while averaging nearly six innings per start.

Tristan McKenzie: CLE at SEA — DraftKings $7,300; FanDuel $6,900
Priced just above the bargain-bin guys, Cleveland’s Tristan McKenzie is striking out 32.7% of batters faced while averaging 12.7 DraftKings and 23.3 FanDuel points over six starts. Awesemo’s MLB Top Pitchers Tool projects McKenzie with a 14% chance of being a top-two pitcher on DraftKings and a 5.9% chance of being the top pitcher on FanDuel. MLB DFS projections of 17.67 DraftKings and 30.29 FanDuel points combine with a frugal asking price to make McKenzie a top-projected value on both sites. MLB daily fantasy ownership projections of 29.7% on DraftKings and 12.1% on FanDuel indicate some public attention to the savings McKenzie offers while nothing tipping the scale.
The Mariners most likely batting order will be comprised of four righties, four lefties and one switch-hitter. McKenzie is striking out 36.8% of right-handed hitters. His 2.79 HR/9 against left-handed hitters is of some concern, especially with rookie leadoff lefty Jarred Kelenic, whose first Major League hit was a home run in yesterday’s game. However, Seattle’s 25.1% strikeout rate and 94 wRC+ against right-handed pitching this season offers a manageable matchup for McKenzie. Whether the Coors Field’s game is postponed or not, there’s plenty of high-priced hitting worth spending up for, and McKenzie provides the feasible path in doing so.
