AFTERNOON SLATE
New York Yankees vs RHP David Hess – 5.7 implied runs
After two days of rainouts, at least the Baltimore bullpen should be fresh… of course that doesn’t help the starters as we have RHP David Hess slated as the sacrificial lamb in the first game of the doubleheader. In seven starts this season, Hess has made it beyond the fifth inning just twice and he has he has failed to get there in three of his last four starts.
Since the beginning of last season against fellow right-handed hitters he has allowed a 1.79 HR/9 with a .355 wOBA in 308 matchups and against lefties it has been even more dismal with a 2.41 HR/9 and a .345 wOBA. Outfield Aaron Hicks should be rejoining the squad and seeing action in at least one of the games and we can rack and stack any of the Yankees with power that get the nod against Hess.
MAIN SLATE
Washington Nationals at RHP Wilmer Font – 4.5 implied runs
Former Tampa Bay hurler RHP Wilmer Font should be good for around 65-70 pitches as he continues to stretch out in his starting role for his new team that has been decimated with injuries to their pitching staff. The New York Mets are the fifth team that Font has pitched for and though he has made appearances in The Show in five different seasons between his debut with Texas in 2012, he has amassed only 69.0 innings and just six starts in his 38 appearances. On a fun note, he does have 150 career starts in the minors, Venezuelan League and the Canadian-American Association.
Since the beginning of last season he has allowed nine home runs to the 117 lefties he has faced for a 3.12 HR/9 so our main focus should of course be Juan Soto, he is not great against same-handed hitters either with a 41+ FB% and HH% so Anthony Rendon, Victor Robles and Yan Gomes are in the mix as well as is Howie Kendrick if healthy.
NIGHT SLATE
Texas Rangers at RHP Jorge Lopez – 4.9 implied runs
Unfortunately for RHP Jorge Lopez who has struggled mightily against the last 218 left-handed hitters he has faced ceding a .361 wOBA, .235 ISO with a 9.6 BB% and just 17.4 K% – and Texas is loaded with lefties who possess above average power. Though there are just two games on the night-cap slate, we should do everything we can to have Joey Gallo in our lineups and we can surround him with Shin-Soo Choo, Nomar Mazara, Asdrubal Cabrera and even Roughned Odor.
As always, you can reach out to me in Awesemo.com Premium Slack or on Twitter @EMacDFS if you have any questions.
Good Luck Gamers! ~ EMac
