Early Slate

Chicago White Sox vs. RHP Homer Bailey – 4.8 implied runs

Over his last two starts (156 pitches), RHP Homer Bailey has been crushed (at STL and vs TEX) lasting six total innings while allowing 18 baserunners, 10 runs and a trio of taters with half a dozen strikeouts.

On Sunday both Leury Garcia (shoulder) and Tim Anderson (wrist) were scratched from the starting lineup, so we may see a couple discounted hitters get the start on Monday, but the key ChiSox are priced up on most sites for this solid matchup.

Jose Abreu and Yonder Alonso are the first priorities, though they are both listed as first basemen so we will only be able to use one on Yahoo! and DraftKings, but both are in play on FanDuel and FantasyDraft with the flexible position requirements.

Yoan Moncada is much better when batting from the left-side of the plate and Eloy Jimenez is back in action so they would be our other targets with Charlie Tilson and Jose Rodon making life easier as discount options depending on the status of Garcia and Anderson.

Kansas City Royals at RHP Ivan Nova – 4.9 implied runs

Staying in the same game, we can target RHP Ivan Nova who has allowed five home runs in his last three starts with 12 runs allowed, 31 baserunners and just seven strikeouts across 16 innings. We can hope that Welington Castillo is behind the dish as he has allowed 17 of 21 base stealers to be successful in his 23 starts, Jame McCann has allowed nine in his 28 games at catcher and Nova has ceded five in his 54.1 innings on the mound.

Kansas City leads the league in steals and though it was surprising that only Adelberto Mondesi got one on Saturday for is league leading 18th on the year, but it was the lone steal against the Yankees atrocious catchers, I am fine continuing to target their speed in above average matchups. Billy Hamilton is 6th with nine steals and Whit Merrifield is 11th in the league, with eight.

As for the hitters, we of course want Mondesi and Merrifield, but can also expand to Hunter Dozier, Jorge Soler, Ryan “Slumping” O’Hearn and “veteran” Alex Gordon to round out a full stack.

Evening Slate

Texas Rangers vs. LHP Tommy Milone – 5.3 implied runs

Surprisingly, LHP Tommy Milone survived in his first start for the Mariners.  The 32-year old veteran will be making his second start for the Mariners which is the the sixth different franchise he has played for and, while he has been solid at AAA Tacoma, it speaks volumes that a journeyman such as himself was relegated there for so long when he is on the team that has allowed the must runs in the league this season. If this sounds familiar, it is very similar to what my thoughts were for his first start in The Show in Texas where he somehow survived, I do not expect him to be as lucky this go around.

Borrowing again from my last analysis which is pertinent on this four game “main” holiday weekend slate, a lot of gamers are going to shy away from Joey Gallo, but please do keep in mind that he has a .342 ISO in his last 223 lefty/lefty matchups which is actually essentially in line with his eye-popping .300 ISO in his last 545 lefty/righty matchups… so he is someone worthy of our attention. Nomar Mazara and Roughned Odor also fare well against southpaws as does switch hitter Danny Santana along with Asrubal Cabrera (switch hitter), righty Hunter Pence and while he has not been that great against opposite-handed hitters since his days with Tampa Bay, Logan Forsythe should be in the heart-of-the-order and another batsmen in the mix on the short holiday evening game set.
