Main Slate

Cleveland Indians vs RHP Ariel Jurado – 6.1 implied runs

While RHP Ariel Jurado has not been the worst with home runs allowed (RHB: 338 TBF, 12 HRs, 1.37 HR/9 LHB: 281 TBF, 7 HRs, 1.02 HR/9) his combined 13.9 K% and 1.47 WHIP for his career keep him on the verge of giving up crooked numbers at any time.

Additionally, against 204 same-handed matchups this season he has ceded a .225 ISO which bodes well for recent acquisitions Yasiel Puig and Franmil Reyes who both have immense power against righties as does youngster Oscar MercadoThrow in the trio of veteran switch-hitters in Carlos Santana, Jose Ramirez and Francisco Lindor plus Jason Kipnis and we have plenty of different roster construction paths that can help us differentiate from The Masses who are likely to congregate on Cleveland Tuesday.

Evening Slate

Chicago Cubs vs LHP Brett Anderson – 5.3 implied runs

This is a glorious matchup for the Cubbies who will be hosting LHP Brett Anderson who strikes out about one batter every other inning with a 3.91 K/9 at a 10.5 K% to fellow lefties and it is not much better against righties at 5.11 K/9 at a 13.6 K%.  The one saving grace for Anderson is his 54.5 GB%, but that is not likely to save him against newcomer Nick Castellanos, Kris Bryant and Javy Baez then we should see secondary options Albert Almora, Victor Caratini and David Bote who are never exciting, but at least they should be putting the ball in play against the Oakland southpaw.

Late Slate

San Diego Padres at LHP Wade LeBlanc – 5.1 implied runs

There is a good chance that the Mariners will once again employ an “opener” in front of LHP Wade LeBlanc, but that should not change things for us as even after trading away power hitter Franmil Reyes to Cleveland, the Pod Squad still has several potent bats in the lineup. Since the beginning of last season, LeBlanc has faced 786 right-handed batters allowing 30 home runs for a 1.45 HR/9 with a 4.0 K / BB rate which does not do a lot to keep  him out of trouble against opposite-handed hitters.

It is going to be in the low-80s at first pitch which is warm for Seattle and as a team, San Diego is in the top third of most offensive categories against southpaws with their active roster. Hunter Renfroe, Manny Machado and Fernando Tatis Jr. are the power trio to target and we can also look to Manuel Margot who is an on-base machine against lefties and even Wil Myers is effective in lefty/lefty matchups with a .365 wOBA, .250 ISO and 128 wRC+ in his last 64 same-handed matchups.
