PrizePicks Fantasy Baseball: MLB Picks Tonight
Note: Player props are constantly moving over at PrizePicks. Make the MLB picks below as soon as possible knowing they might change later on in the day.
Charlie Morton Under 6.5 Strikeouts
Morton has defied the odds by pitching exponentially better after the ban of sticky substances than before it. He has now tallied at least seven strikeouts in six consecutive starts, a remarkable run that has lifted his strikeout rate to 27.7% for the season. But in a middling matchup against the Phillies, who only strike out at a 23.8% clip against right-handed pitching on the season, regression could be in store tonight. The Awesemo Player Props tool agrees with that sentiment, as 6.5 strikeouts for Morton currently projects as one of the best strikeout props to target.
Austin Meadows Over 7.0. Fantasy Points
One of the best parts about playing on PrizePicks as opposed to traditional DFS sites is there are absolutely no ownership concerns. That means play the best plays (so long as the line on their performance is appropriate) and move along. For tonight, the Rays bats project as one of the best teams to roster against Indians starter Cal Quantrill, so target this matchup with lefty cleanup hitter Austin Meadows. The one knock on Meadows has always been his strikeouts (23.1% strikeout rate this season), but that risk is mitigated by Quantrill’s abysmal 16.6% strikeout rate. He also surrenders 1.45 WHIP to lefties for the year as opposed to a 1.30 WHIP against righties, giving Meadows a few more paths to accumulate enough fantasy points to go over this number.
Andrew Heaney Over 5.5 Strikeouts
Rounding out the three selections today is Angels southpaw Andrew Heaney, who draws a treacherous Twins matchup in Minneapolis. With Alex Kirilloff now done for the season, Miguel Sano and his 36.7% strikeout rate will be back in an everyday first base role, meaning opposing pitchers should receive a bump automatically. Plus, Mitch Garver and his 31.5% strikeout rate was recently activated off the injured list, another bonus for the profile of Heaney for tonight. And while he can certainly give up hard contact, Heaney’s 28.1% strikeout rate is all that matters at this low line of 5.5. Fire up the over to round out the PrizePicks card for tonight.
