Following the lone afternoon game of the day, it is time to transition over to the main slate on Thursday, July 22. There are eight games on the slate to choose from, and I will select the two most profitable MLB DFS picks and sort through the areas to attack. Tonight’s slate is headlined by the big National League East matchup between the Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies.
Tonight’s Top Monkey Knife Fight MLB Player Prop Picks
Monkey Knife Fight has a ton of profitable contests for the public, and here we will break down the two best areas from which to make MLB picks.
More or Less – Strikeouts: Pick 2-for-2 | Prize: 3x Buy-In
Charlie Morton vs. Blake Snell
In terms of getting strikeouts, the Phillies do not make it easy on pitchers. Philadelphia ranks in the middle of the pack in strikeout rate against right-handed pitching (23.8%), but it is more about grinding out at-bats and making pitchers throw extra pitches. Morton has a prop number of 6.5 strikeouts, and he has only exceeded that mark once in three starts against the Phillies this season.
Morton: Under 6.5 Strikeouts
Snell returns to pitch in the state of Florida for the first time since September 2020. Hopefully that can bring him some luck because it has been tough sledding in recent outings. Snell also has a prop number of 6.5 strikeouts, but he has not exceeded that mark since June 4. That said, tonight’s matchup will add a bit of optimism, as the Marlins have the highest strikeout rate in MLB against lefties (27.9%) this season.
Snell: Over 6.5 Strikeouts
Rapid Fire – Fantasy Points: Pick 2-for-2 | Prize: 3x Buy-In
Nelson Cruz vs. Freddie Freeman
Cruz has a decent history against Andrew Heaney, going 5-for-19 with three homers. Heaney has allowed 15 homers and carries a 5.78 ERA in nine home starts. Freeman is also in a good spot against Matt Moore and the Phillies’ bullpen. Moore will likely only pitch about four or five innings before giving way to a Phillies pen that can implode at a moment’s notice.
Freeman is much hotter, going 15-for-39 with five homers over his last 10 games. He has 31 total bases over that span, while Cruz only has 13 (8-for-32, two doubles, one homer). Plus, Freeman has only struck out three times in the last 43 plate appearances.
Pick: Freddie Freeman

Jose Ramirez vs. Brandon Lowe
Ramirez comes limping into this matchup, hitting only .171 over the last 10 games. Luckily, he will be facing the Rays’ Luis Patino, who is having a rough go of it. Patino has allowed 13 hits and 11 runs (nine earned) over his last 8.2 innings of work. While that is appealing, it will be a tough decision of whether or not that is enough to overlook the other option.
Lowe is bopping a respectable .290 with four homers over his last 10 games. He has drawn eight walks over that same span, so his plate vision is where it needs to be. Lowe has been focusing on that more, with four walks over the last three games. His current form is too much to overlook, even with Ramirez getting a great matchup against Patino.
Pick: Brandon Lowe
