Greetings, Gamers! For a second straight day we have twenty-two teams in action on DraftKings, FanDuel, Yahoo and SuperDraft.
Similar to last year, I will be providing a review of one stack for each of the day’s slates. Some of these short-slate options will be good for the full-game set, others will be more contrarian and better suited for the mini-game sets.
Sign up for SuperDraft today using promo code “awesemo10” and it’s $10 FREE on your first deposit of $10 or more and $20 total FREE on your first deposit of $100 or more. Download in the App Store or play at superdraft.io.
MLB DFS Afternoon-Slate Picks
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim vs. RHP Trevor Cahill – 5.9 implied runs
This will be just the second appearance for RHPÂ Trevor Cahill this season. In his last outing he was knocked around by the Astros and he should expect more of the same from the Angels. This is going to be a 1pm local start time and the temperatures should be in the mid-90s. At most we will see Cahill for around 60-65 pitches or three innings. After that the fun should really begin with the Giants putrid bullpen. The San Francisco relievers are a bottom-three unit by most standard and advanced metrics.
While we may not see 40-year old Albert Pujols in a day game after a night game, we should have Mike Trout who hit his league leading 10th home run Monday night (he was surpassed by Fernando Tatis Jr who hit his second of the night after this article was posted). Anthony Rendon has begun to round back into form after dealing with an early season back injury and then we also have rookie Jo Adell available as a discount dandy on most sites. Look to the top of the order for a full-stack with David Fletcher and or Tommy La Stella. Finally, for differentiation we can look to Brian Goodwin or Jason Castro (neck) at the bottom of the order as part of a wrap-around stack. Finally Shohei Ohtani should be in the lineup after getting a day off on Monday.
MLB DFS Main-Slate Picks
Washington Nationals at RHP Josh Tomlin – 4.8 implied runs
The Nationals are an intriguing stack on Tuesday in what should be a contrarian situation. Key hitters Trea Turner and Juan Soto are not cheap and there are much higher implied run totals. RHP Josh Tomlin will be serving as the opener and this will be his eighth appearance of the season. He will likely be in line for around 25-30 pitches before giving way to the next man up. RHP Huascar Ynoa was called upon to go three innings Monday night as the bullpen had to absorb half a dozen frames after starter Touki Toussaint managed to collect only nine outs. RHPs Bryse Wilson and Luke Jackson are the likely guys to be tabbed as they have not pitched in the last 72 hours. Update: there is some overnight news that Josh Tomlin will try to go four innings, that is good for the Nationals.
On a fun note, rookie Luis Garcia became the first baseball player born in the 2000s to hit a home run in Major League history (he ended up hitting two yesterday). On DraftKings, he will provide dramatic price savings at $2,600 along with Adam Eaton at $3,000 and Victor Robles at $2,500. We are going to need some cheapies to work in Yu Darvish and Luis Castillo, and Washington’s pricing will certainly facilitate that.

Chicago Cubs vs. RHP Daniel Ponce de Leon – TBD implied runs
For those of you who may have forgotten , the Cardinals sat out for 16 days from July 30th until Saturday. They have also played five games in the last three days, though four of them were 7-inning doubleheaders. It remains to be seen how effective Ponce de Leon will be after being out for such a lengthy period.
We do not have much of a track record in The Show for the young righty, but he tends to rely on ground balls, though he may have some untapped strikeout upside. This will be his first start against the Cubbies, but we can still look to the usual suspects. Anthony Rizzo, Ian Happ, Javier Baez and Kyle Schwarber should be the core four to target. The entire quartet has a .230+ ISO against right-handed hurlers since the beginning of 2018. Kris Bryant and Willson Conteras round out our full stack. Jason Kipnis should have the luxury of seeing good pitches as one of the “weaker” hitters in the lineup and he is incredibly cheap.
