MMA Prop Bets: UFC 263: Adesanya vs. Vettori 2
Eryk Anders +225 by KO
A rematch from earlier this year, Anders faces Darren Stewart after an illegal knee resulted in a no contest. Prior to the stoppage, Anders pieced up Stewart throughout the first round, winning the striking battle 43-15. Anders also displayed his patented power by knocking Stewart to the canvas. Prior to the first Stewart bout, Anders already posted eight wins by knockout, including three at the UFC level. The more aggressive and accurate striker in this bout, Anders by knockout at plus +225 remains the pick.
Leon Edwards +145 by KO
As the most lopsided betting line on this card, Edwards sits as a -575 favorite over Nate Diaz. Interestingly, Edwards holds a +145 line to win via KO. Coming off a long layoff, Diaz hasn’t fought since July of 2019 and only has two bouts since 2016. Now 36-years old, Diaz’s durability has come into question; this is a particular risk with Diaz due to scar tissue buildup around his face. Cutting easily, Diaz sometimes has a problem with blood. This occurred in his fight against Jorge Masvidal, which ended via doctor’s stoppage. As a superior striker to Masvidal, Edwards remains one of the most well-rounded strikers in the division. With Diaz’s aggression, Edwards may be pushed above 2.56 significant strikes per minute. Now looking to extend his eight-fight winning streak (excluding his no contest), Edwards gets his second knockout win at the UFC level over Diaz in this spot.
UFC DFS Ownership Projections
Vendramini +900 by Submission
In the second fight of the night, Fares Ziam takes on Vendramini in each fighter’s third octagon appearance. Both relatively unknown and coming off a win, Vendramini’s submission prop looks particularly enticing. Known primarily for his wrestling, Vendramini actually went 0-5 in his first UFC appearance against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos. However, Vendramini fought up a weight class and has since returned to his natural division. On top of his wrestling, Vendramini constantly hunts submissions. Averaging 2.0 per bout, Vendramini already posted five submission victories on his profile. This matches up well against Ziam, who prefers to stand and strike. Already allowing eight takedowns in two UFC fights, Ziam has been controlled for over six minutes in each bout as well. With Ziam also losing twice via submission, taking Vendramini via submission at +900 provides a massive potential payoff.
Steven Peterson +500 by KO
While Peterson remains a slight favorite over Chase Hooper in betting markets, his fight props look particularly interesting. Holding a 2-4 record during his time with the UFC, Peterson hasn’t fought since September of 2019 after multiple injuries. However, he does find himself facing an up-and-comer in Hooper at UFC 263. Both fighters hold advantages in this spot. Hooper relies entirely on his strong jiu-jitsu skills, while Peterson holds a clear striking advantage. For someone with a strong ground game, Hooper often struggles to get fights to the mat, averaging 0.32 takedowns with 7% accuracy. Peterson lands 4.65 significant strikes per minute and holds five wins by knockout. With Hooper being such a liability on his feet, Peterson’s +500 knockout prop looks ridiculous. This prop is bettable down to +300.
