Chase Hooper | DraftKings: $8.500, FanDuel $16

Hooper is a dangerous submission artist and as such, will look to take this fight to the mat where he feels most comfortable. Hooper is still learning on the feet, and he throws a lot of front kicks to the head and body. He does have a solid chin, but has been hurt in several fights and managed to survive the punishment. Hooper is Awesemo’s sixth highest project fighter on the slate. He also gives him 63.2%-win odds. Just be careful with Hooper though, when building lineups – Awesemo has him at 36% chance of being a top-six fighter. With 44% ownership, that means you’re giving away some leverage to the field, so find other spots in your lineup to gain an edge.

Charles Byrd | DraftKings: $8,800, FanDuel: $19

Byrd is a well-rounded fighter that will walk his opponents down by throwing a jab, straight-right combination, while mixing in uppercuts. He’s also a strong grappler and he has nice side control, but he is best from top control and has nasty ground-and-pound. Awesemo has Byrd projected as the seventh highest fighter on the slate, giving him 61.7%-win odds. Just be careful if you roster him, as Awesemo only gives him 30% chance at being a top-six fighter.

UFC 250 Value MMA DFS Picks

Gerald Meerschaert | DraftKings: $7,800, FanDuel: $15

Meerschaert throws a nice jab, straight right combination, and he will throw round kicks to the head. He throws a nasty left hook, and it does have power behind it. Meerschaert is a good grappler; and he is excellent at getting takedowns. He is strong in the clinch, throwing nasty knees and elbows to the head. Meerschaert is Awesemo’s third highest projected fighter on the slate. He gives his 75%-win odds vs. 33% ownership, which makes him a nice value play.

Fight update: Ian Heinisch will fight Gerald Meerschaert at UFC 250, after all. The middleweight was pulled from the fight on Thursday due to one of his corner-men testing positive for Covid-19. It looks like a second test came back negative so we’re good to go. Should anything happen again, Meerschaert becomes a complete lock against likely fill-in Anthony Ivy.
